CHUD time machine

If you could crank up a time machine and take the CHUD message boards back in time, when would you go back to?

I'd go back to late 2001/early 2002. No offense to (most) newcomers, but things were so much more laidback and we were a tighter nit group back then.

I would go back to a time when I was slimmer and shaplier, so probably like October 2000. However, I was much prettier when I was younger, so I guess I'd just like to start at the beginning.

I'd go back to '99, and prevent my friend from getting back together with the boyfriend that gave her HIV and ruined her life.

I've thought about this. A lot.

Apparently you both need to be taken back to grade school, when reading comprehension was taught.

As I've drifted through the years here at CHUD, it doesn't seem like much has changed. Certain frequent posters may have come and gone, but the general ebb and flow is no different, IMHO.

Of course, maybe if I actually knew any of you personally, I'd feel differently.

An option: Do something to improve the boards instead of living in the past.

I'd go back to just before this thread was created.

And then I'd kill you.

And then I'd send a reprogrammed Terminator back to protect her.

Doesn't it suck when new blood comes in and they just don't have the proper respect for their predecesors?

Eh, the boards are what they are. And what they are is pretty darned cool.

I'd go back to the time when people weren't constantly reminiscing about the past — those were the days!

YES!! OWNED!

Well, I guess things have changed a bit. Seeing as how Jennifer, I believe, used to be a coffee meeting attending Atlanta regular and in 01-02 would never have gotten blazed on the boards like that.

But the boards are healthy, not as communal to be sure, but still THE best on the web.

Nick, if I lived in the past... well, by now I would make Copperlocke seem perfectly sane by comparison. This wasn't meant to be a thread to bitch about the boards but to remember good things that are now gone, and maybe see if we could bring some of them back. As for improving the boards, sometimes inaction is the best action. I've done you a few favours just by doing and/or saying nothing.

It's a sign of the times that even a few people bothered to respond in the way that they did for a harmless thread like this.

The boards haven't changed, only the people. If there is a problem, it's with the people and it's real easy to go from being pessimisting to optimistic, if you truly want to be a part of the solution.

I think the boards are better now than they were before. Sure, we have more trolls and shills, but I like the place as is. I think almost all the forum sections are getting posted in pretty regularly too.

Heck, I think one the best thread ever was done recently, the one about Peter Carrie being a douche to his fans.

What Phantom star Peter Karrie is really like -- he spells his name with a "K".
Like the KKK who he is' worser than all of, in total.

I'd go back a few years and rewrite some of my posts that make me sound like a waterarming wanker. Aside from that...not so much.

This question, which has been asked before in one shape or form, reminds me of those people who just graduated from college and DESPERATLY yearn for the excitement of high school.

Please mentally place "Air Quotes" around excitement.

I think it is probably a sign of maturity that the Boards get threads reminiscing on the 'Good Ole Days.' Keep in mind though, that like life, it probably wasn't as good as you remember.
