Star Wars Ep. III Sneak Preview figs...

They're out there. I saw all 4 in large quantities at Wal-Mart last night. Nice figures, but the real kicker is the packaging. REALLY COOL. It's like no SW packaging you've seen before. Very nice design, in my opinion.

I like the Jedi Starfighter, but I've kinda given all that stuff up, besides the Clone Wars figures (which are superb).

The packaging is pretty neat but I don't think the figures are all that great. I hope a Grievous with better detailing is released when the film hits theatres. I was more impressed with the Darth Vader voice-changing thing I saw. I didn't realize it was a full-size helmet.

I'm a sucker for a new figure with a lightsaber, but yeah, the definitive Grievous won't be released until after the movie. This one has a hard time standing without the aid of his cape. I wish they'd quit with the packaging 'innovations' though and just return to the glory days of the vintage style packages. I've got all 12 of the VOTC figures and those are the only ones worth leaving in the package because the packages are just amazing and nostalgic.

Is this the packaging?

HASBRO

If so, that's some cool shit.

Why buy an Anakin Starfighter when there's no Anakin figure for episode III yet?

Grievous is the only thing i'm interested int from the preview set, and he only has 1 lightsaber, and you guys make a point about a cooler Grievous figure coming out on release.........

But I think i'll get the preview one to spruce up the ole desk.

They should've called it the JAMES EARL JONES Voice Changer Mask!

Yeah, that's it. I'm not a big fan of it but it's better than the Episode I packaging and the really generic Episode II.

Hey in the end it goes in the trash, that's why packaging matters little to me.....except DVD art........

This I like though.

Cause it'd only sit on my shelf doing nothing anyway.

Yep, there's another Grevious coming out when the opening salvo of major Ep 3 merchandise hits. He'll have more than one lightsaber...and some "special modifications" that will spoil a potentially awesome moment in the movie (I don't want to get into spoilers in this thread).

There will also be a 12 inch Grevious doll.

I think any SW fan here knows the surprise [though I like that for the mainstream person they're not really alluding to it in material] the iea of a kid having a Grievous doll is sorta weird....

What are you guys going to do when/if you buy a Episode III figure? I plan to make my desk a little more geeky , just getting Grievous and maybe Anakin and Obi-Wan and put them in duel position.......along with other toys, maybe a Hellboy here and a Brodie Bruce there.

remember the bases from the episode I line where you scan them and they say quotes? So much for that technology.

Picked up the General last week and yea...nice packaging...but the bastard cant stand up with or without his cape unless it's some weird position. Like he's taking some sort of robo-crap.

And the little booklet that comes along with it says he has TWO! lightsabers...and here I am stuck with one and a blaster. A DAMN BLASTER!

So I just stole Obi Wan's saber and gave it to Grievous. Now he has two and is all smiles

Though Episode's 2 Preview Figs were a tad better. Jango and the Clonetrooper were good. But this one only has Grievous and a Wookie that seem decent.

I'm looking forward to the Unleashed Ep3 figures. Those are the best SW figures ever released IMO.

is the Darth Vader helmet for chlidren?

I have a very large head (x-tra large hats are snug on me) so I just assume it wouldn't fit me. Is is very adjustable?

LOL, my brother got it yesterday and I broke the lightsaber by accident, now he has a unlit one.....I gotta find that spare blue one lying around.......and yeah the toy is very unstable to stand......first thing I noticed when I firs held it was that they should have put more points of articulation and made the toys slightly bigger, these toys are brittle as hell.....

The unleashed figures have more joints and stuff right? They're not like Mcfarlene toys where you can't swivel.mov anything are they?
Yeah, they have barely any articulation.

The reason the normal figures aren't bigger is because they have to fit in vehicles, and to keep the cost down of making vehicles.
Actually I was pretty surprised how much articulation Grievous had for a tiny dude. His upper body, knees, arms, legs, arms, and heads.

The UNLEASHED figures arent the epitome of articulated figure since they look best in their poses but they do look good displayed.

It's the only series where Luke doesn't look like a pussy in his black Jedi garb.

The Unleashed figures are essentially cheap plastic statues, and not action figures. If they were cast in 'polystone' they'd cost $150, but luckily since they are just plastic, they are only $15. Still too much for me.

The regular figures are still in the same scale as the vintage figures, and for that, I thank Hasbro. They are releasing a 6" scale line of figures this year that's a little more in line with playable, posable figures a la Marvel Legends, but they look pretty bad if you ask me.

Stick with the original scale, but give Grievous feet that are parallel to the earth!

You're in luck. I picked up the voice changer mask and it's comfortable on me. The only thing is I had to take my dremel to it to sand down inside where the bridge of my nose fits under the eye lenses (which I simply unscrewed to remove and sand down), but thats due to my face size than anything. As for fit, I wear a 7 7/8 to a size 8 cap and it fits fine. Sexy in bed with the lady too!
