So, what's new for the Gameboy SP?

Just got one of these things unexpectedly as a gift. What's good for it? I'm into strategy and I plan to get Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Orge right away. Anything else good in this genre? Anything else, aside from the pokemon-yu gi oh stuff, any good?

Fire Emblem is supposed to be really good and I hear that another Fire Emblem game is coming out in the coming months for the GBA.

I picked up Onimusha Tactics used recently. It's pretty dumbed down and more straightforward than Final Fantasy Tactics or Tactics Ogre, which is exactly why I wanted to check it out. It's a good starting point for that sort of turned base strategy game. I've always had trouble getting into them, but I'm on my way. If you're already pretty familiar with that type of game it might still be worth checking out for that type a game with a bit of a different setting.

I wouldn't write off Pokemon so quick though. As silly as it sounds there's actually a pretty solid game design underneath all the warm fuzzy layers of cuteness, and it's actually pretty addictive.

And the Final Fantasy I & II reamkes are awesome. If you like the more traditional RPGs that one's great, and the Golden Sun games are highly recommended as well.

I haven't played them but I'm told the Advance Wars games are keen if you like strategy games. The Metroid Games are good and so is the new Zelda game, "The Minish Cap".

Echoing the love for Advance Wars and Zelda: Minish Cap. Also, if you're into RPGs, check out Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga, especially if you dub either Paper Mario for the consoles. Really funny game, that.

And don't discount Pokemon so easily, if you haven't ever played one you could easily find yourself hooked to it for a few weeks. The formula has gotten rather stale at this point for most veteran players, but if it's new to you...

Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga is the most fun I've had on my GBA ever. I loved Metroid: Fusion and Zero Mission with a passion, but Superstar Saga is the greatest.

Thanks guys, I'm going to check most of these games out. Coming from consoles and PCs, I'm surprised to find the games so cheap. I know they're on a small portable, but still, when compared to PS2 and xbox, I find I can buy a bunch at a time just to try out.

I've been playing FF Tactics the last few days and I now think that the GBA SP is the best platform for RPGs. I can't play them anymore on the consoles cause of all the other cool stuff on em, but when I'm sitting around waiting for something, it seems like the best time for a dungeon crawl. And it seems like there are a bunch of good RPGs for this thing.

I can't believe I didn't mention Mario Golf: Advance Tour the other day. It's a golf RPG! It's awesome!

I too forgot to mention some of the stuff some of the other folks on here mentioned... They're all extremely good, but I think if you had to pick just ONE then it would have to be Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga. It's really an amazing experience. Unique, funny, and a blast to play.
