You're in the cereal aisle in Wal-Mart and you say " The kids like that Darth Chocula stuff, right?"

Or...when you're talking to your friends and one of them mentions something that the whole group finds funny...you then say something along the lines of:

"yeah, that reminds me of this one time on CHUD... oh man, it was hilarious:

All of your friends look at you funny...one of them asks, "What did you just say?" with a big perverted smile on his face...

And you just sigh and say, "Nevermind..."

Whenever my wife walks by the computer and asks me "What's CHUD telling you today?". Like it's a person. Always makes me feel like a complete loser. Fighting back tears, I respond to threads like this.

A healthy person would perhaps take the hint and go have sex with the wife.

Yeah, I struggle explaining the Oh Don Piano gags. Or when I make a crack about having to fuck a dead person, and no one gets what I'm referring to while they're still alive. Disheartening.

I know I spend more time on the boards than I should when...

I find myself recommending more movies to faceless Chewers (that I never met all over the world) than I do to tangible friends & family that I actually watch movies with.

I seem to be watching more movies late at night and rushing to the boards to see how someone else's opinion compares to mine. Because more often than not, the less-mainstream stuff I watch wasn't seen by people I know in the real world and I can't wait for those people to catch up.

Has anyone ever tried to explain the CHUD message boards to a non-believer? That can be a strange experience. I can never just say, "It's a message board for a movie website," usually because whenever someone walks up behind me and glances over my shoulder I'm reading perhaps the Talking Shit thread. Then I have to spend ten minutes explaining the boards so as not to look like a stone cold weirdo. "No, no, it's not a website where people just discuss their most vile dumps. There's other things, like movies, television, books, and intelligent discussion about politics and......oh, forget it, just go to hell."
