I'm optimistic. I hope this movie will blow people away. The one thing that will make my day is to read from either Nick or Devin's review is "This is the best Star Wars movie ever made". I'm not saying its going to happen, but it would be amazing to see those words.

I know some pics look kind of so so. Some shots of Palpatine as Darth Sidious looks like his face just melted.

One image that hasn't left my mind is the shot of Anakin looking at the camera with those orange/red eyes. Pure evil right fuckin there.

Episode I, mediocre at best, Episode II, i really enjoyed (sorry if that offends some of you), so I think that Episode III will be worth the hype.

How about you?

How many different ways can the same fucking topic be posted?

I am counting the days. I am taking May 18th-23rd off work and going on a full blown Star Wars binge. My co-workers joke that when I don't show up to work on the 24th they will send a search party. I'll most likely be found in an alley somewhere tattered, skinny, and clinging on to broken Darth Vader voice changer.

There's a difference between excited and optimistic.

Am I excited? Yes. Am I optimistic? Sort of. Am I also cautious? Fuck yes.
Call it hopeful. At the very leat the duel should be good but it can't have the impact that the Luke-Vader Empire duel had on my 7 year mind.

Was that before or after they joined the Luca$ Raped My Childhood's Ass Club?

I think it's gonna be fucking awesome. Once all the shots are completed its' gonna be fine. I'm also cautious though; even though I've read a dialouge coach was hired I'm just praying the movie doesnt look like one long ass video game like some of Episode II did *cough TheDroidFactory cough*

That's what the smiley faces were about.

I'm between "Fuck Yes" and "Kind of". I'm excited because we've finally gotten to the meat of the story after six years of exposition, but I still don't think it'll be the Star Wars movie we've all been waiting so long for. I think it will be very fun the first few times, will lose something after repeated viewings, and ultimately won't stand up to any of the films in the OT, but I think it'll be decent in it's own right.

But yeah, I'm optimistic.

I'd rather see Catwoman!
RJ, you like Catwoman too?
You just described Jim Cameron's Battle Angel.

And Dark Angel.
Well Yup I'm optimistic....

Do I believe that even if its Citizen Kane for the 21st Century there wont be someone ready to pick holes in it?

No....

Thats not an apologist attitude, just a simple fact that I dont think it matters how good it could be, will be, or is (depending on when you read this) someone will pop up and crack on with Phantom Menace, Jar Jar binks, too much FX, arguments over and over yadda yadda yadda
post #17 of 56
Am I optimistic?

Well I’ve stuck in Lucas’s corner for this long; it would be pointless to abandon him now. If it’s decent I’ll be happy, if it isn’t – well, I have a high threshold for pain.
The previous 2 were average and were not bad films, just plain old average. This one will entertain me even if it is shit so i really couldn't give a cow. The dissapointment won't kill me!
Optimistic, but grounded. I was like this with the previous two. I never went ape shit over TPM when it was being hyped as the second coming. I loved it once I saw it of course-still do, but the insane over-the-top expectations set by that film never took hold. I expected to like the film and went about my life until may 99. I'm so glad I did since it seems those who loved it, now hate it and those who hated it now despise it. Sucks to be them. Don't have time for that type of mental illness.

I want lots of battles and a few questions answered.

Even though this will be a fucking blast, a tinge of sadness will be hanging over since this is the very last one.

"The one thing that will make my day is to read from either Nick or Devin's review is "This is the best Star Wars movie ever made".

Don't bet on it. Besides, why does it matter what a few others think? If you enjoy it, enjoy it!
My only hope is that it'll be better than my expectations. Not perfect, just better story mechanics. Of course, Episode 2 didn't have a plot, so that shouldn't be too hard, if Lucas actually tries for it.
Episode II didn't have a plot?

Since when?
I'm sorry, you're right. It just felt like there wasn't one.
C'mon, folks. Let's be realistic. Were there images that looked cool from the first two prequels? Yes. Did the first two heartily disappont? Yes. Does Lucas and his paid staff and his millions of apologists have an excuse for every piece of crap decision he's made? Absolutely. Judging from Ep. 1 and 2, what makes you think this round will be any better?

As the old addage goes: Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, I've got an official job as the Lucas colon cleaner.

Typical whiny fanboy loser who has seen too many porno movies.

Now, howabout cleaning my colon you lousy bitch? There's some fantastic shit in there.

Heh. Apologists on the warpath-- nothing breeds the vitriol like a little Lucas bashing. No need to get sour folks. Just addressing the question. If you take the track record of the last two, what makes this one so sure fire?
Man, the rotton jesus responds to every single negative post about SW. Thats alot of energy brother. Just let those remarks slide right off the back man.

I wish he'd fuck right off. Guys like that make me understand why so many people view SW fans as losers.

Careful Charles or you will go right on his vaunted ignore list.
The only thing that would make me happier would be to see his cuntgoblin ass erased from CHUD permanently.
No, you're abusive to others. In the way you post, you have the 'MY OPINION = FACT, EVERYONE ELSE = OPINION' attitude. And in the gracious words of Gabe Cash, it 'fucking sucks.'

And you're right, Tongaonevai, rotten seems to have a built-in radar like device that immediately alerts him anytime anyone has the balls to call out his precious prequels. And talk about disingenuous...he claims to respect differing opinions on the films (unless those opinions are written about in an "unintelligent manner,") but he declares that ash88's opinion just makes him want to push ash88 out of a window and this comes on the heels of rotten's snide remark about ash's "girlfriend." Not discounting ash88's harmless little post that rotten responded to so severely, I've seen rotten disparage posters who've written very intelligently about their problems with the prequels. So I ain't buying your revisionist history, rotten.
You are a prick (or cuntgoblin as Charles so nicely put it) who contributes nothing of value to these boards;
shouldn't you be standing in line at a theatre somewhere by now ? I hear there's a swell new Star Wars movie arriving soon.
What's funny is he informs people they have just made his ignore list like it is the ultimate punishment or something.
Apparently you are not on his omnipotent ignore list anymore Coffin.
These 2 things must happen as they will ensure the immortality of these boards forever.

1) Everyone must now refer to the rottenjesus as cuntgoblin

2) February must become the official "ignore rottonjesus aka cuntgoblin month" where everone is required to ignore cuntgoblin for 28 days.

I wonder if cuntgoblin gets into fist fights during the opening nights of Star Wars films?

As much as I adore my greatest creation being repeatedly used, I'm not sure I want it to be forever affiliated with that skinbag.

Ditto, thats all I could ever ask really.

I just watched ESB and RotJ a couple days ago for the first time in ages, and was thinking how much fantasy was involved in the whole OT, monsters in asteroids, technology that is ludicrous and illogical but works anyway, how stupid the empire is and how easily it crumbles, stupid shit like that, but it didnt matter, because the story never tried to be anything it wasnt, it was just pure escapism and fantasy. I've never felt that with the PT though, because it seemed like it usually tried to inject some kind of realism into the saga, which really put me off, all this senate, trade route bullshit, all this political debate with Anakin spouting off against democracy or some shit while trying to get into Padme's panties, gimme a break, SW is meant to be escapism, I dont want the 21st century blues reflected in it, I dont want any reminders of this world at all!

But anyway, its a cool universe, and thats the main thing that keeps me interested. It would be nice if Lucas would allow EU creations to grace the big screen, allowing such directors as Tarantino, Fincher, Mann, etc to come up with stories that have nothing to do with Luke and co, that arent PG rated, etc. There's so much potential, imagine a John Woo inspired SW film, it'd be hilarious with doves flying around everywhere. Eh, anyway, enough dreaming.

Anything this successful is never over, we should all know this by now. I will not be surprised if the saga continues on the big screen in the future.

This has been something I have been considering. There's almost no way I can give a reasonable review of Episode III on a first viewing. My experience with the first two have proven that.

Of course this time it will be different - I saw Episodes I & II at midnight screenings, and this year I should be seeing Episode III at a press screening with a totally different vibe. Still, these movies are weird - they're events first and movies second, and I think that is reflected in people's changing opinions. As an event they've been exciting, as movies they have disappointed.

When I rip on the Bible in front of Christians, I expect them to be bothered. The responses will happen every time, the beliefs have been hardwired. For some, God is real, for others, the Star Wars movies are the best they will ever see.

There should be one end all be all thread dedicated solely to the so called Apologist/so called Lucas Ass Rapers war, complete with a poll and everything. That way everyone can have it out there instead of dragging the good fight into the other threads.
