Second Sight

I see the ad for this game at the top of the page every now and then and I was wondering if anybody on here has played it. My guess is that Psi Ops got a bit more attention than this one and while I haven't played much of Psi Ops yet I have played through about half of Second Sight and I have to say it's a pretty cool game.

I picked it up because it's another one of those games that hit the bargain bin pricing pretty quick after it was released. I guess nobody was buying it so it was down to $20 in the blink of an eye. I even saw it new for $15 in an EB just last week. Besides the price and mostly positive reviews, I wanted to check it out because it retains the art style from the Timesplitters series since it was made by the same folks, and considering it's their first third person action adventure game, they did a pretty bang up job. It looks nice, runs smooth, has a pretty cool story, and mixes gunplay, stelath and psychic powers.

The psychic powers are probably the best part. You don't have them all right away, but as you progress, you get new ones and are introduced to how they work and you can use them in a variety of cool ways to do all kinds of stuff, ranging from physical attacks to healing, to keeping yourself hidden and exerting your will over others.

For the price it's at now I'd say it's really worth your time. If anybody else has checked it out it would be cool to hear some other thoughts.

The story is pretty cool, but the game-play just sucks ass.

Really. I kind of like it. What about it don't you like?

I played a demo of it and liked what I saw. The main thing I didn't like was not being able to send people flying with the psychic powers, you could only move them slowly through the air. I'm a huge Timesplitters fan, but I figured Second Sight wouldn't have 1/10th the replay value. Now that it's cheap I might give it a try, thanks.
I also really like the Timesplitters art style.

I played a demo too (one from the Official Xbox Magazine) and thought it looked nice, but it didn't do much for me. Granted most demos usually don't. I poretty much get the demo disc and take a passing glance at everything on it pretty quickly. I heard good things about the game and picked it up on the cheap and was pretty impressed by it. The art style definitely helps too.

You can't toss people around at superhigh speeds but it stil looks pretty uncomfortable when you roll them around on a wall and I'm usually pretty passive when I play games, but this one gave me a moment where something happened that was kind of unexpected and unplanned and it just made me smile and say "Wow" (or something like that). I went to pick some dude up and get him out of my way and I ended up pushing him up against a wall and busted him right through a window off into the darkness of the night. It was friggin' sweet.

Beides moving people around you can do a sort of burst attack that tends to make folks fly away.

And the replay value may not be too high, but it's fun while it lasts. It's one of those games I'll hold onto after I (eventually) finish it and go back to it somewhere down the line.

I've been thinking of renting this one. What I've heard is that it's the poor man's "Psi-Ops" or "Psi-Ops" with a better story.

I like how the Second Sight ad STILL pops up from time to time. Great. Please tell me Gorilla Nation won't be taking that away from us.

Rob me of the MATRIX sunglasses ad if you must, but the Second Sight ad must be preserved forever.

The game is pretty good actually, although I didn't like how enemies would magically re-appear in areas you had cleared out.

The story was fairly interesting, and the psi powers were integrated into the game nicely.

Bad points: weak mouse control/targetting on the PC version, and StarForce copy protection.

And yes, I know this thread is old.

Yes, please keep the add.

And the game is pretty damn good as well.
