Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault

So I just started playing this this weekend. I had run through the tutorial a few weekends ago, but really only got started on it yesterday. It looks like its going to be another greeat MoH game release...I have no question about that. However, I feel like I should bring up something that has just been bothering the hell out of me. Why do all military FPS game releases now feel it is necessary to incorporate Medics into their games. You either have to attend to wounded soldiers, bandage yourself or some other variation thereof. WHY??? What ever happened to the good old days of walking over to a health kit??? That was, and still is the best.

Sorry for the rant, but does anyone else notice this?

No war game beats Operation Flashpoint for realism and difficulty. Man, I love that game...

Uh, MoH, yeah, nice...

I used to love the hell out of Medal of Honor, and they're still good games, but ever since I discovered Call of Duty they seem a bit tame in the realism and intensity departments. They're solid WW2 FPS, but Call of Duty is just hands down the better product.

I like COD better than MOH as well. Didn't whoever produced COD loot EA of all the guys who made it and just one-up it?

I share the love for Call of Duty. The Russian campaign is freaking great. I hope they go to the Pacific next.
MOH Pacific is not a bad game---it's fun.... but no Call of Duty.
Anybody who thinks a "Boycott EA" campaign is going to do more then give people a chance to vent is living in La La land. The same gamers who scream j"Fuck EA" will keep buying EA Games.

I hadn't heard anything about that, but if it's true it sounds like a sort of Don Bluth/Secret of NIMH type revolt.

I was busy noticing how the frame rate drops to 1 fps for no reason at all on parts of some levels.

But to answer your question, currently, 'progression' in FPS games has come to be defined as how well developers can integrate elemets of different types of games into them. People think that they've gone 'old school' if they don't put some kind of puzzle solving into a shooter. Soon, you'll be cutting through the jungle of Iwo Jima and have to sovle a rubix cube in order to impress a Japanese officer to death. Soon, people will be listing Super Bust a Move 4 as their favorite FPS.

At least we have some great puzzle shooters like Half-Life 2 to provide a gold standard. Hopefully developers were paying attention.

I almost agree with you....the only hang up i have with your statement is that Call of Duty was soo easy. MoH: PA is providing quite a challenge.

The medic crap is a pain in the ass, but other than that its ok. the only major complaint i have is the aim....a little sluggish...thats a big no no in my book.
