I'm not completely sold on Jade Empire yet and I'd probably add Conker.
I'm really curious about Darkwatch.
Conker, Area 51, and Jade Empire have my interest as well.

edit:

Also wondering how FarCry is going to turn out for Xbox.
Bring me Doom 3, Devil May Cry 3, Dead To Rights 2, Darkwatch, Jade Empire, and depending how word of mouth turns out, Conker and God of War.

If I was 100% sure of buying a PSP on launch, I'd mention Twisted Metal and Wipeout Pure. But I'm not. So I won't.

Is there a new LOTR game out this year?

Just the PC RTS game left, I believe.

Pirates! for the xBox. The original is my favorite game of all time for any system, and as my computer can't run the new one, I've been looking forward to the xBox version ever since I heard about it.

F.E.A.R.

Devil May Cry 3 and that's about it.

Same here. What I read in EGM made me a lot more interested that I was previously, though. Also...

Psychonauts
Destroy All Humans!
Darkwatch (the lead guy from Ozomatli is doing the music!)
Doom 3 (kinda)
Katamari Damacy 2

Am I the only one who thinks that it looks like the year in game is gonna be pretty boring till the usual fall onslaught? None of the titles mentioned so far have me remotely interested save for the one I mentioned and Katamari 2.
I'd say it looks a hell of a lot better than the usual spring prospects.

It's kinda just you. Sony and Microsoft pulled out all the big guns last year, now they've got new systems in the works, so it's quieter on those two fronts game-wise, than usual. But what is coming looks like quality stuff....the only one that's sure at the moment, though, is DMC 3...heard nothing but praise thus far....Doom 3 got a 10 somewhere, but that's the only review I've seen.

Nintendo starts playing their trump cards this year with Geist, Killer 7, RE4, Zelda, and Mario 128. But most of those don't start hitting till summer.

That's really it....for now.

Is there a definite release date for Katamari 2 yet, though?

This is coming to Xbox? Is it any good?

Suck that Uwe Boll got the rights to the movie.
Forgot about Killer 7, I'm definitely interested in that one. And God of War could be cool.

Of course my reaction also comes from the fact that I'm not too big on FPS or military games. But I'm not complaining because less new games bought = more time to play through old ones again (I still haven't finished San Andreas for one).

Katamari is this summer in Japan I think.
Killer 7
jade Emire
Doom III
Crap, I thought Katamari 2 was due in Japan by the end of March at the latest, making for a quick jump to the US. Balls.

I find this Spring and Summer's slate to be unusually loaded with cool games.

My bad, it does come out during the Spring in Japan.
Gran Turismo 4. That's it. Next Tuesday baby!
No shit, spring last year we got Ninja Gaiden, and that was it for months.

*edit*

Intended to follow Carl.

Agreed. Splinter Cell, Doom 3 and Psychonauts are my only "must buys" at the moment, but there are a ton of games I can't wait to try, with Area 51, Timesplitters 3, Gran Turismo 4, Jade Empire, and Destroy All Humans topping that second tier. Compared to last year's six month draught of even *decent* games, this year is looking pretty damn great.
I don't think I have to point out that I have zero interest in Splinter Cell 3. Psychonauts I hadn't heard about and after a little research, I find it's a Tim Schafer game. Now I'm interested.
Now I just have to figure out what I want to trade in my copy of MGS3 for.

I play the PC version from time to time. It's pretty tough, but there are so many ways you can go about doing things. It's a lot of fun to play. A LOT of fun.

The console version is called Far Cry Instincts and it looks like they're planning on adding stuff like death traps. Kind of like the stuff Arnold rigged to mash up the Predator at the end of the movie. Might be cool.

I thought it was coming out in the spring but EB has it listed with the rather generic 9/01/05 now, so who knows when it's due out.

Guess I'll have to keep working my way through the PC version for now.
Some great choices listed here, including some that had slipped my mind.

Oh, and nice use of colored text in the first post, Carl. Nice touch.
I take your list, winnow and change:

Star Wars: Republic Commando (XBox) - is this coming to PC?
Psychonauts (XBox)
Area 51 - PC - because I can't shoot worth poop on Xbox.
Jade Empire - MmMMMM. Bioware.

I also still need to get KOTOR II, but I'm waiting now until its bargin bin. Or, like last time, someone sends it to me free.
ESPN NFL 2K6.........oh, wait................crap

Yes, it's coming to PC, and there's a demo of the game here. You can probably find it on plenty of other mirrors as well.
For me it's Splinter Cell, Jade Empire, and Psychonauts (all on the Box). Perhaps Doom 3 on the Box, depending on other people's impressions. That's it. I'm still recovering from the glut of November and December 2004 games so I'm not going into gaming withdrawal any time soon. (I'm ashamed to say I purchased MGS3 the week it was released, and I've clocked about half an hour with the game total).

Last spring I was mostly playing just Ninja Gaiden and SC:PT... but those games were hella fun. Hopefully I'll squeeze as much enjoyment from SC:CT and Jade Empire.

Same here. Holiday games I still have yet to finish:

Ace Combat 5
Ratchet 3 (actually finished first playthru, but it's still too much fun to stop playing)
Rome: Total War
Battle for Middle-Earth
Gothic 2
Resident Evil 4 (I'm taking my time with this one, loving it too much)
Mechassault 2
Mercenaries
Champions: Return to Arms

So I'm still good to go for a while now...
Timesplitters: Future Perfect and DOOM 3 are at the top of my list. These are must-buys as far as I'm concerned. I had so much fun playing Tmesplitters 2 that it's almost obscene, and just the fact that they are expanding the mapmaker mode is enough for me to make a first day blind-buy.
I'm really jazzed about Brothers in Arms also, but I'll be waiting for the reviews first. Area 51 looks surprisingly good too. Yeah I like good first person shooters, what of it?

Sounds like a blast. Can't wait to play it.

You can put Doom 3, Jade Empire, SC:CT, and Darkwatch: Curse of the Old West (I have no clue about this game but it sounds awsome) on plate as of right now. I will keep a close eye on Area 51, Psychonauts, and GT4 when they come out. They might warrant a purchase or rental on further inspection.
Actually, the game I was most looking forward to this year after GT4... Was Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance. PS2 version is out of print, so I managed to get one off of Ebay. Do not intend to play MGS3 until I've completed 2 and all the side missions etc... WOOHOO!

Of course, it'll take a backseat when GT4 arrives next week, although it's my birthday on the 27th, so I'll be saving it for that.
very curious to see how Pariah turns out for the pc. hopefully, it manages to keep it's may release date.

guild wars is still on top of the list.

or something.
Doom 3 (Been waiting for this since i played the original PC game)

Brothers in Arms (Anything even mildly related to Band of Brothers is a draw for me...esp a WWII FPS)

Jade Empire (I've had this on my list for far too long)

Area 51 (Once I picked up the demo, I knew this was on my must have list)

Pariah (just looks cool, will watch it more as it comes closer to release)

Timesplitters (big fan of the series)

Constantine (just kidding)
The 2 usuals:

Madden 2006
NCAA 2006

Plus, whatever Sega comes up with as their "Professional Football that isn't the NFL" 2K6

Doom 3 for the XBox
can't believe no one's mentioned this:

The Movies - Peter Molyneux's latest project puts you in charge of a movie studio (all systems)

That's because it's doubtful that it will come out this Spring, if even this year.

Its official release window is now April 2005 - March 2006

I'm still highly anticipating it, but it looks like it might be a good wait.
I'm not an RPG guy but doesn't every Molyneux game fall short of fan expectations? That guy seems to talk up everything he works on like it's the Best. Game. EVER. but consumer reaction is always, "Ehh, it's aight."

True, but he actually hasn't said much about THE MOVIES. And I saw a build at E3 last year that appeared as cool as advertised.
