That's a steal really. The New Order has a fairly lengthy and meaty campaign.

The old blood is pretty good so far. I'm three chapters into it at the moment.

Can't believe a year or so for PS4 divinity release.

For those who install the new Xbox One system update, check your system video settings. On my 1080p TV, I had to switch HDMI from Auto to Manual to get the picture back to normal. It was trying to send out a DVI signal or something.

<PET PEEVE> Guys, you don't have to keep copying and pasting the movie along with any quotes.

Over in the Horror Movie Challenge, people are quoting HUGE BLOCKS of text and movie poster images just to reply with one line.

I've been stuck on Chapter 3 of the Evil Within 2 because of its semi open world and my OCD.

Quick update because I got a few pms. The crazy fire situation is being contained by the awesome fire crews working the various fires hitting our county. We received notice that the evacuation order from a week ago has been lifted. Electricity, water, and internet are online. We came back and fuck yeah our house is still standing. I don't see any visible damage to the house or garage. The air quality isn't that great, and our house is still smokey. At most we just lost a weeks worth of food that went bad in the fridge. Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?

Thank you Jacob for your early gofundme donation, you're the man. Oof, being an evacuee just got fucking expensive. Just waiting on our insurance agent to verify they'd re-imburse us for the sudden departure.

And shit, now there's even more games I want to get to now: Divinity, South Park, I think Mario comes out this week, and Dishonored 2's DLC thing.

But man, my home town got hit hard. Driving through the swath of ashes to get here was just depressing, we got lucky but so many others didn't. If you can, send a few bucks to the Red Cross or Redwood Credit Unions Fire Relief Fund, they are doing great work helping those who got hit hard that Sunday night.

That's great news!

Outstanding, mongy!

Looking at aerial photos of the devastation has been depressing as hell. I don't know if it's just me, but it seems like coverage of this has not been what it should be.

Fuck yeah, mongy! So glad to hear everything went fine.

Great news Mongy! Glad to hear you and your loved ones are fine.

Anyone playing the new South Park RPG?

Im personally not interested because SP's brand of humor just doesnt gel with me anymore, but Ive watched a few Let's Plays, and holy fuck, one boss fight is an amazingly great surprise.

I just started, and I'm already laughing...

The character creator has a difficulty slider... which also darkens your skin.

Cartman: Don't worry - this doesn't affect combat. Just every other aspect of your entire life.

Fuck. You. Mom. Pedophile priests. Raisins. Lap dancing boys. This game is nuts. Love the new SP
post #10818 of 11082
I'm so glad to hear that, Mongy.

An article on Kotaku mentioned that a couple weeks ago. Reportedly it really does work as a difficulty slider. It's not just a gag. It has a real effect on how South Park's famously racist NPCs treat your character.

It's a shame i'm not a South Park fan as I'd actually quite like a turn-based superhero game where you create your own hero. Ah well.

As a South Park fan, and someone who thought Stick of Truth was fantastic. I definitely want to check it out.

Wanted to play at least one other horror game this month besides Until Dawn, so I went ahead and got the digital deluxe edition of Resident Evil 7 on sale for $45. Pretty good overall, especially after RE6. It does feel kinds weird to go from decades of 3rd person action, to complete first person though. It feels more like Outlast that features the ability to fight back. They really could've made it its own IP honestly, but I guess they figured that haphazardly tieing it into to the RE 'verse would sell more copies, so whatever.

I'm just glad RE is actually scary again.

Glad that things are mostly working out for you mongycore, though I know it's still hard.

I keep on realizing how I could just "live" off my backlog of games without buying any new stuff.  Case in point, my desire to actually play Shadow of Mordor before even contemplating Shadow of War.  Also, I booted up Mad Max on my Xbone and actually spent some time with it and found myself really enjoying it.  Once I got a feel for it, I found comfort in seeing that it's another game where I can roll into a new zone or whatever and work on a checklist of things to do.

That Mad Max game is great.

I've been working hard lately, so I thought I'd treat myself. I got a 35inch 21:9 3440*1440 G-sync monitor from AOC called the Agon or some such. That's pretty sweet. To compliment it, and my ROG Swift secondary monitor, I thought I would upgrade my SLi 1080's mistake (which mongycore gleefully pointed out)  from earlier in the year. So, I went ahead and got 2 1080Ti's on Massdrop for 699 a piece, which sounds a lot but was about 150 less than the lowest price around. I now have in my closet a GTX980 and 2 1080's, that I felt like keeping for a rainy day.

I was feeling pretty proud of myself in my endless search for frames per second. I started to plan to plan future MB and CPU upgrades and stopped in at the local MicroCenter to have a look around and when I got out someone had door dinged my driver door, put a 24 inch tall scrape and dent on my rear passenger door, ripped of some wheel arch trim and must had a panic attack as they also caught and scraped my front bumper/fender. Didn't even leave a note. Once my tears dried up and I got a really good look at the damage I figure it's going to cost a thousand or two.

So I'm playing life games right now, and I just lost some gold and about 300 will to live points, because of a level 25 arsehole using his plus 10 dick special.

Oh well, at least I get an extra 10% performance gain in Ark!

Check with that store and others in the area to see if the damage was caught on surveillance cameras.

Even though it seems you have money to burn...

<Yeah, I used an emoji. Sue me.>

At least I have 3 GPU's to sell. My bit mining career was about to take off.

Oh, and I got Destiny 2 for free with the Ti's, so I'll be playing that. He's a weird deal, you get one copy free when you buy the GPU but because I bought 2 at the same time, I only get one copy of the game. Wtf is that all about?

I did call them and ask what about if I bought them on different days would I get 2 copies. Nope.

I bet if you shoot me that other code I can get it to work...

For some reason Nvidia doesn't want people gifting copies of games. I ran into the same thing a couple years back with a free copy of Shadow of Mordor. I already owned it on Steam, figured I'd give it away, but no dice.

You can probably thank the fuckheads over at Amazon for that change. People went crazy ordering video cards that offered free Gears of War 4 on Amazon, they'd get the free game code, return the card, and flip the code online for profit. After which new game promo's were since locked to Nvidia's software Geforce Experience for validation and confirmation of installed hardware.

How long did it take you to beat your first boss so you could save your game?

I used copious internet assistance, because if I'm going to have to puzzle out every little detail, I'm just not going to play the game. I'm too damn old to go as deep as I used to. So I used a Madman's Knowledge prior to my Cleric Beast fight, which meant I had enough Insight to meet the Doll, and thus was able tp upgrade my character before I went in. Killed him without breaking a sweat, in fact.

Then I fought Father Gascoigne like twenty times. But this is all old news! Now I'm one boss away from the end, and I'm debating whether to hit Old Hunters before I complete it.

Old Hunters is quite possibly the best DLC out of all of From Software’s soulsborne series. I highly recommend it, but keep in mind that it’s hard as fuck and I wouldn’t even go into it until you’ve beaten the optional areas of Castle Cainhurst and Upper Cathedral Ward. It might even be advisable to check out the cursed chalice dungeons first where you can find the best bloodgems in the game, that is if you don’t mind the tedium of the randomly generated dungeons. I found that I quite enjoyed going through the dungeons because I enjoyed the game’s combat so much that I could overlook the dungeons’ bland plug and play level design, but I could easily see why most people don’t like them.

Sick as a dog. Stuck on the couch this weekend. Jumping into Secret of Mana on the SNES Classic.
I think I’ve baffled Shadow of War’s nemesis system. I guess my play style is a little too careful, so the amount of times a simple grunt has killed me adds up to a grand total of one. I got revenge by firing an arrow into a barrel of grog at the guy’s celebration feast and he came back again this time with burn scars, I killed him a second time by basically slicing him in half and now the game seems to be trying desperately to find another nemesis for me. I was only level 9 at the time and it seemed that things were getting so desperate for the AI that it decided to have a level 20 Uruk captain ambush me with at least twenty grunts. I thought about running away, but then I found a wall that none of the enimies could figure out how to climb and I proceeded to do plunging stealth attacks on the level 20 captain until he died. Now at level 12 it seems like the system has given up, all the new captains that come in are a good three levels below me.

Mordor 2 - Loot boxes aren't so prevalent up until after Act 2, then you get the nag prompt of hey we have a marketplace! No thanks, I have cheatengine, fuck you. I'll google the true ending after I wrap up the campaign. Game itself is okay. No crashes, no weird ui problems. I wish the Urok pre-fight speeches were skippable. Shut the fuck up already I just want to kill you and collect your loot. It hilarious they make every female character in the game WBSexy™ because reasons - which kinda made some sense in the Batman games with Ivy and Catwoman, but not so much with Shelob or the Entwife. Oh hey, the FOV in this game is fucking trash and you can't mod it (again, thanks cheatengine).

Grand Theft Turismo Sport - $60 for a game I can't play because everything is online and their servers were down last night. Refunded this shit.

Fire Emblem Switch - I don't really want this game. Can you just re-release Hyrule Warriors instead?

Destiny 2 preload is done.

I'm hooked on Forza 7 on Xbox, even though aquiring new cars is slow.

I cleared the campaign, but I'm still doing SP championships just for fun. I enjoy testing out the differences between all the cars that interest me.

The phenomenal graphics, gameplay feel, and soothing engine noises make it easy to lose hours to racing.

I finally dinged level 59 and got the final class ability, the gap closer that lets you charge to an enemy. I find it hilarious that Troopers and Bounty Hunters have to wait that long to get it in the current version of the game. The basic free blaster weapon attack and both taunts have a nice range on them, so a tank has no problem getting mobs to come to him, but I have to imagine it's an absolute bitch for the two melee DPS specs to have to wait that long.

The game has an autosave system which uses hunter lanterns as checkpoints. You can do all of that before you defeat the first boss. Don't know what you're on about mate.

What I'm on about is curiosity?  You can save as many times as you want at the first lantern, but it resets all the enemies.

Okay, let me put it another way: how long did it take before you reached the SECOND lantern.

A few hours. I beat the Cleric Beast on my first try.

Also, I usually take longer in the first areas in Soulsy games cause I treat them as a training area. Learning how to parry and getting into the rhythm of the combat. And I was determined to beat that fat fuck with the long axe tucked into the corner just down and to the left of the first lantern. But once you know the placement and movement of enemies it goes much faster going through an area.

Yeah, same. I'll generally farm the opening area just to up a few levels, so the sting of losing any xp doesn't bite as much.
