Prey did ok! Good enough to get a more ambitious sequel, at least.

I was totally unaware. Good to hear! Now I just have to wait 4 years so I can pick it up for $2.99!

My brother and I have been thrashing the shit out of local multiplayer Risk:Factions on XBLA. It's our kinda thing anyway, but it really is a great addictive few hours of fun.

I loved Prey.  Way underrated.  And it was doing Portal before Portal was around.

Fallout New Vegas - Started a run on Dead Money. Not sure if the dlc world is offputting or I was just out of Fallout gas, I've stopped playing that game now. Though more of a break...that might be longer with Deus Ex hitting next week - and currently preloading on steam.

Crysis/Crysis Warhead/Crysis 2 - Maximum Finished. Crysis was great until the last two levels. Just tedious trial and error piltoing that vtol and fighting off the squids. The final boss was just clumsy and a couple of generations old design wise. Warhead was a neat side trip, short clocking around 3 hours, with just fun combat scenarios - didn't give a shit about the characters backstory. Crysis 2 has filled me up on my need to fight any kind of modern warfare in New York. Looks pretty amazing with the optional hd patches - xhox version looks like garbage in comparison.

Next up, Space Marine Demo...

I've also been slogging through Crysis 2 on PC. I really liked the first Crysis - open world jungles scratch a serious exploration itch - so for me, Crysis 2 is a big disappointment. DX11 looks great, but these are the same blown-out rubblescapes as every other FPS from the last five years, and the linearity robs it of everything I liked about the previous game. The story may as well be from a videogame mad lib.

Yeah there were times they fell into the Unreal Engine trap of using similar static meshes to fill out the scenery. The tactical menu steals the ingenuity away from you with the big numbered icons telling you what to do, choose 1 for uber turret, choose 2 for uber weapon pickup, choose 3 to flank, or choose 4 for stealth. I rejected those things. Instead I chose rapture....my only annoyance was how weak throwing objects and sliding were. If my guy is fast enough to get those random speeding ticket messages I should be able to do some damage with the suit. Chucked several boxes and garbage cans at the Cell guys and they brush it off like stray strands of spider-webs.

Space Marine, fuck yeah - Holy god damned the game looks amazing with everything maxed out and running at over 1080p, at a buttery smooth 60+ fps. It was awesome just running into mobs of orks swinging my chainsaw around like Sauron with blood and gibs flying everywhere. There is some trouble with the camera when doing cqc in tight spaces as it spazzes out here and there. Gun play is pretty great so you can alternate between shooting and melee'ing it up. What makes the melee great is after a point you can initiate a finishing move animation, which is brutally hilarious, that will restore your health a bit. Can't wait for the final release.

Just now finished Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. I guess Veronica Mars is going to get possessed by Big Barda or something in the next one.

I don't know what's next. I've been wanting to do a Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 run for a while now, so I may do that. Or I might replay the first Deus Ex partly in preparation for the new game, but mostly just because it's been forever. Still need to finish the first Witcher game, too.

Holy crap thanks again about Batman Arkham Asylum.  Still in the middle of it.  It's like a cross of Metal Gear Solid and Metroid.  And when you are walking down the hall of Arkham mansion and it slowly turns into Crime Alley, holy shit AWESOME.

Decided to save some money for the coming flood of games so I've been mostly playing Age Of Conan again. And I have to say it. For at least the first 30 levels I'll happily put it up against any MMO out there. They supposedly fixed the post level 40 drought that crippled it when it came out, but that still remains to be seen.

And I've been watching a fuckton of the Gamescon Dota 2 tournament matches. Playing with a bunch of friends, this looks ridiculously fun.

Playing Dead Rising 2. I got it a while ago but never really played it until now. It's a pretty fun time, lots of options to killing zombies and now that I'm a high enough level it's even better (more abilities and more health). I'm still debating picking up Deus Ex this week, might hold off though and go for Space Marine instead.

I'm a weak man, just pre-ordered Deus Ex, need to finish up at least my first run of Dead Rising 2 tonight so I can go into the new game tomorrow. The reviews have been great for it by the way.

Just got a text from Gamefly saying it was on the way - early word is very positive. Never played a previous Deus Ex game, but I've heard naught but good things.

Cripes, things are about to get extremely painful in the wallet soon. Starting September 6th, there's at least one buy-worthy game coming out each week, all the way through November.

I've got Deus Ex pre-loaded on Steam and tactical nukes for commies on Toy Soldiers Cold War. It feels like the build up before a big event with all the shit that's coming out. It's a great time to be a gamer. Anyone else check Cold War out? It's not bad, runs a bit cleaner than the first but the camera can still be a bitch when you're driving a battery operated tank around. All in all pretty fun.

OH! MY! FUCKING! GOD EMPEROR!

The Space Marine demo is (I would have said one of, but fuck it) THE BEST action game I've played in ages. If the whole game is like that, nothing can stand in the way of me having it as my game of the year. Sorry Witcher, sorry Deus Ex, there is nothing that can compare to this. If you want a disturbingly accurate representation of how I behaved playing the demo try this http://youtu.be/nb50aAFiOpM.

Oh fuck, that was good. I'm geeking so fucking hard right now.

Just started playing Infamous 2.

It looks sweet - that drops the same day as Resistance 3 and Dead Island. I need more hours in the day.

The player character, Captain Titus, is voiced by Mark Strong. No other puny game can stand up to this awesomeness.

Really Mark Strong?

Shit.

If only you didn't have to play as a goddamn Ultramarine.

Hey, if you're that into one of the inferior Chapters, there are already mods for different skins. I definitely saw at least some working Space Vampires ones. Space Werewolf Vikings can't be that far behind.

Remember I'm a console-gaming unter-mensch. Therefore I'll have to do with the Space Mary Sues.

Seriously not trying to create a problem. Space Marine is really lenient on the hardware. Did you try the demo on your PC?

Looking at the specs. I probably could run it on my PC. But I like being able to chat with people via XBox Live whilst playing stuff. I just don't feel PC gaming like I used to. I much prefer the trade up of more rigid controls/set up for easier running/social elements.

It's the Ultramarines for you then. Hah!

Or the inevitable "paid" Legion Astartes skin pack that will pop up eventually.

Glad to hear the game is awesome; im getting it for the 360 (i have no problems playing with any Space Marine chapter if i get to kill orcs and chaos forces); hell, i chose it over Gears of War 3

, which i'll get in October instead.

Setting my 360 up to d/l this before I come home.

May death find you on swift wings if I've downloaded another goddamned Space Marine shooter for naught.

I'll delete my account on CHUD if you don't like it. I'm smitten with this game.

Would the game work for someone like me that has no clue about the Space Marine franchise? I might have to download the demo and try it out.

Yeah that game wasn't even on my radar, but the video did a lot to sway me. Must play the demo at least.

Yes, the point of the game is to kill as many enemies in as brutal a way as possible. You get healthy for killing someone via melee and finishers, this is not a game to hide in cover (in fact you can't). You don't need to know anything beyond Space Marines and every human part of the Emporers empire are good and everything else must be burned. It's a slight over-simplication for but for this game it will do.

Okay, that video looked like a hell of a lot of fun. I definitely have to check out the demo now.

Just got The Beatles Rock Band on Justin's advice and it is fucking my shit up.

So brilliant. Thanks Justin. You Rock (Band).

Played the Space Marine demo with a smile etched across my face, when I switched the Chain-Sword to the Power-Axe and inbedded it in some Nob's cranium I had to stop myself cackling with maniacal glee. Probably the best embodiment of the tone of Warhammer 40K we'll ever get, and the Ork voices are perfect.

I'm currently attempting to finally do a full play-through of the original Deus Ex on the PC. I know, I know...I've started it so many times but for various reasons have never finished it.

Also Mike's Pants, congratulations on playing The Beatles: Rock Band. There's never been a music game before or since where I could pick any random song and not mind playing through it. I also recommend the DLC for Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper's and Rubber Soul, if you have money to spare for them. I'm just thankful my three favorite albums were made available in full.

Currently quite enjoying R.U.S.E. - a great little under-rated rts for the xbox

My brother and I had a blast playing the new Toy Soldiers Cold War last night and I still find myself drifting back to a replay through Arkham Asylum I'm completing and GTA:Lost & Damned

...but then, Deus Ex arrives next week...

I am actually making a little headway into my second character run-through of Pathologic. Just had a horrible day, was really low on supplies and health so I killed a random guy to steal his organs to trade for some bandages. Fun times!

I also keeping pecking away at Yume Nikki, which is kind of great but also really hard to get get hooked into.

Eh.

Stomping the shit out of Cockney green dudes, and turning their innards to Slushie does have its charms, but boredom set in after 15 minutes, and after a while, I was killing guys not for the joy of evisceration, but just to stop another asshole from saying "SPAYCE MAREEN!"

That said, it is indeed better than Gears of War. And it does indeed have Mark Strong in it.

Have fun guys.

P.S.--Keep your account, stel. You're one of the good ones.

Fired up Heavenly Sword for the 2nd time in years. This game looks great, even after 4 years.

How the sam hell do you switch melee weapons? Im stumped there.

That aside, the game is perfect 40k bliss; it took les than 5 minutes into the demo for my brain to turn off "Gears of War" mode off and i just charged like a maniac at an horde of Orks, making mincemeat out of them with my chainsword.

Glorious; also, speaking of glorious, is it me, or does nailing a  headshot (specially with the sniper bolter) feel specially awesome in this game?

At the lift fight near the end of the first mission there's a supply spot to the left of the lift. You can get the power axe from there.

Played a Battlefield game for the first time ever last night (Battlefield 2). I had no idea the environments were destructible in this game. I sought refuge in a house, and used it as a shield from a tank......yet I kept wondering why my damage indicator kept flashing red......I turn around and see half the house is gone. Right then, another shell hits, and it collapses with me in it.

Nothing against Call of Duty....but its gonna be Battlefield 3 for this guy.

I, too, wish that I enjoyed the demo as much as some of the other guys around here. I'm a little jealous, frankly.

Yeah, I'm gonna rent Space Marine. It was fun, but even in the short demo I was just cycling melee, stun, execute over and over. Couldn't quite get the hang of the jetpack in the second level, but I only played that briefly. Very visceral presentation though, so that gets a playthrough.

I have the same question about this game as I do about Gears of War - what's the point of big, bulky armor if you get chewed up so quickly anyway?

I also tried the Bodycount demo - that one's under the radar for a reason. I was standing right behind a bad guy with a gun leveled at his head for several seconds before he realized it and turned around.

I'll probably get skewered for this, but I couldn't get into the Bastion demo, either. The real-time narrator is such a cool touch, but it's wrapped around a game that I find handsome but dull.

I guess liking the 40K universe helps to enjoy it more. Knowing it's a Nob that's getting cut in half certainly added to my joy.

Exactly; I hope the game is a hit, so oneday we can get a Imperial Guard game as well; just make it an M rated "Earth Defense Force" type game and i'll be in pure joy.

That Space Marine demo sure is a lot of fun. I blew away an Ork point blank and then cut two more in half with my sword, blood and guts flying everywhere. Glorious.
