Nice Italics.

Liberty City Stories. Don't play it. It's pure shit.

Perhaps, but the two-player demo wins the "Demo that completely obviates the need to buy the game" award this year.

Gun and Burnout: Revenge for the 360. Gun is better than I expected, I'm glad I got to try it, don't think I would have bought it.

Haven't had chance to play Burnout much yet, but if it's anything like the third one I'll be playing it for a while.

Definitely have to agree with Slater about Quake IV, I don't know what people's problem with it is. It's the best FPS for the 360 so far.

I don't know if it is really. I mean, it's a nice piece of technology with a handful of good games, very sleek and lovely, capable of wonderful graphics and lots of functionality. But it also has lots and lots of watered down ports, a shorter battery life, games which don't lend themselves well to short bursts of play, and a sense of fragility.

In the end it depends on what games you want, but I do believe the DS is a better system for what handhelds are supposed to accomplish.

looks like Texas hold'em is my new geometry wars. I snuck out of my singleplay cave and dicked around with a couple multiplay tournaments. Tip to the wise - set up your own tournaments and games - don't get sucked into a freaking 20k buy in game when you join a 'quick match'. I got lucky and didn't lose anything.

Just figured out how a chud.com game could be set up after poking around the menu's...you can reserve seats for an invite only game. Aside from grinding it out in singleplay I've become addicted to the no-buy-in competetive tournies. Virtually no risk to your bank, but at the same time still an okay game to waste some time.

If you want the 10 in a row achievement, try a singleplay tournament, widdle the field down to you and a cpu. If you're losing - bet all in all the time - the computer folds nearly 80 percent of the time.

Madden 07. Won this in the company lottery drawing. I'll just say I sold my soul for achievement points and simmed a season...deleted that franchise and started a superstar career instead. I know jack about football; this would be an excuse to learn the game and know wtf my coworkers/neighbors talk about.

Pheonix Wright - I may lose my ds to the wife after she watched me do the first case (the tutorial one). Not bad stuff so far...

Dead Rising. I'm sorta forcing myself to play through this game. Don't exactly have a burning desire to play the game...but it was pretty cool seeing the Rollercoaster Clowns brutal demise.

Pac-Man, the perfect game eludes me. I give up for now.

Games I'm playing currently:

Dawn of War: Winter Assault - If you like Warhammer 40K and RTS, this is the game for you. 4 races (5 with WA, soon to be 7 with DC) allow you to play with most of the well-known factions from this universe, and while the game suffers some balance issues, it's actually a rather balanced game and the latest patch (1.51) addresses many of the existing issues.

Half-Life 2 - I haven't finished the single-player game yet, but that's because I usually play the multiplayer games, and Day of Defeat is my favorite. Episode 2 is coming and it will have Team Fortress 2, which is a sequel of one of my most beloved multiplayer FPS games of all time. Needless to say I'll be spending alot more time on it.

Battlefield 2 - I got this game early this year, but just gotten around to play it recently and got promoted to lance corporal only. I love the massive battles in this game, with infantry, vehicles, and jets/copters all dominating the battleground. However, my quirks with the game include players abusing the shit out of air vehicles like choppers, and use it to kill without impunity (as anti-air weaponry is rather weak). Oftentimes I got killed without knowing why, which robs some of the fun out of this game.

Battle of Middle-Earth 2 - It's a nice RTS based on Tolkien's series of novels, but the atrocious balance issues put me off and I'm waiting for the big 1.50 patch to address them fully. But in typical EA fashion, the patch is delayed and without an ETA.

Oblivion - I really need to start playing this game.

I've been neglecting my PS2, but someday I hope to finish GTA: San Andreas, RE4, Castlevania, etc. Want to get Madden 07 cuz I love football (go Jets!).

Haven't decided what next gen console I want to buy yet (although Wii looks most promising atm).

Games I'm waiting for: HL2: Episode 2, Enemies Territories, Battlefield 2142, Supreme Commander, DOW: Dark Crusade, Neverwinter Nights 2, etc.

Found Resident Evil 4 (Gamecube) on clearance at Toys R Us for 10 bucks. For a guy who pretty much hates the RE franchise, I'm loving this game. They've changed or fixed just about everything I didn't like about the series and, damn, it looks good too. I've died a LOT but have had fun so far. I'm only one chapter in (I just got my ass beat by that Rasputin looking fucker and I'm tied up with the Spanish dude) and have spent over an hour in-game so I suppose I'm in for a long trip.

And just so I'm clear, there's no way to strafe, correct?

You can't strafe in the game although it would have been useful. And yes, the game is pretty lengthy but it never gets boring it just gets better.

Picked up Saints Row for the X Box 360 today. I've spent about 6 hours exploring the city. Being a fan of the Grand Theft Auto series, I figured it was going to be a GTA wanna be. Not. Very impressed with the gameplay and the open city aspect. The visuals are top notch. I'm sold!

Tomb Raider Legend - gave it a rental, made it through some levels. Pretty scenery this time around. Will need to rent it again to finish it off.

F.E.A.R. 360 demo - Nabbed a friends oxm disc...plays buttery smooth. Not as crisp and fresh as Call of Duty's port, but still smooth and shiny.

Titan Quest - had no idea this came out. Downloaded the demo. Liked the return to diablo-esque adventuring. Will need to pick this up sometime down the road.

Saints Row - thoughts posted in the official thread. Fun stuff.
Tomb Raider was definately fun, Mongy.

Right now I'm playing Saint's Row. Oodles of fun.

Been playing Enchanted Arms, you can watch me talk to myself about it in the official form.

Oh shit, if the chainsaw guys in RE4 get too close to you, they cut your fucking head off! AWESOME. It also occurs to me that I probably spent my money wrong at the first merchant. I probably should have bought the bigger attache case.

I'm also playing Drill Dozer on GBA. It's lots of fun, and has a better rumble feature than the actual DS rumble pak.

It helps, but you don't NEED to have it early on. You should have some extra cash for awhile, since I'm assuming you aren't spending all your money upgrading the guns you get early on (if you are, stop it). Just grab the case next chance you get.

***edit***

Don't buy scopes.
Yes!

Weirdest thing...I got the achievement for beating the second level (1940?) without even beating it. I think I killed myself by flying into the last guy. Game Over..Achievement unlocked. Makes sense to me.

Yeah, I bought the rifle scope thinking it would be a great thing. Didn't help as much as the price led me to believe. I didn't try to sell it back, though. Maybe I'll be able to do that. Is there any benefit to hanging onto all the treasure I'm finding? I have a shitload of spindels, a couple necklaces, and a fancy mask so far.
Depends what it is. When the description says something like "mask with two holes..." or "gem that looks like it fits..." then you want to combine them (like that mask you have). Most of the stuff you find (spindels, rings, necklaces) just sell them as soon as you get them
post #428 of 2665
Okay, cool. I sold a couple gems but held onto the rest on the outside chance they get a higher price with other merchants. If I don't have the cash by the time I get to the next merchant (there are a shitload of villagers between me and the next checkpoint), I should be able to sell off enough loot to afford the bigger case.
The prices for items and how much they sell for stays the same the whole game.
I've been trying to catch up on all the games I overlooked awhile ago; and I've just finished up the remake of Sid Mier's PIRATES! (which was alot of fun but doesn't have as much replaybility as you'd think it would). So thanks to ebay, I should be starting these games up when I have some time:
Planscape: Torment
Anachronox
The Longest Journey
Curse of Monkey Island (just hoping I don't get screwed over on that one)
Grim Fandango (still shopping online for it)

Edited for poor grammar

Thanks for the info. I played through the battle at the lake last night. It was awesome. After watching the cutscene from the overlook I was thinking, how in the hell am I supposed to fight [i]that[/] with the guns I have. Very entertaining boss battle.

I hate the snakes in the boxes.

Madden 07 - Sold that fucker off. Football videogames just don't hold my interest.

Quake 4 - Finished. Pretty solid shooter. Could've played smoother, but it didn't kill the game at all.

Call of Duty 2 - The opening to Tunisia rapes my soul. Probably be another couple of weeks before I try that game again.

Kameo - Water temple was a lot easier than the forest level.

Burnout Revenge - Game is just bleeding fast. Got addicted to crash mode again.

Saints Row - Destroying shit with an unlimited supply of rpg ammo is nice. Drug run missions with the soccer mom are hilarious. Pretty short game storywise. San Andreas was just epic in comparison. I think I spend over 65 hours playing that game until it's done. I think at most, when I'm done with the last gang - it'll be 25 hours spent.

All that 360 playage equals breaking 10,000 achievement points.

Pheonix Wright - I'm hoping the game gets a little better than the 1st and 2nd case's tendency to badger witness, re-read testamony, and throw down evidence destroying witness. Don't care for the deus ex endings thrown in so far.
Non stop Saint's Row for me here. I've put in just over 20 hours of gameplay and I'm only 33% complete. Currently stuck on the Level 8 West Side Rollaz Snatch mission. I've gotten close to the brothel twice before blowing up.

Recently got Brain Age and Trauma Center. Brain Age keeps freezing on me unfortunately. Lost my first patient in Trauma Center because I couldn't stitch him up in time. Is there a trick to this at all. I managed to do it on the next 2 patients after about 5 attempts and a whole bucket of swears. Any tips?
You mean suturing the wound after the surgery is complete? Make a big zigzag over the entire wound. Just make sure you're making it all the way across the incision before you go back the other way. For the smaller sutures during the surgery, I find a quick scribble is the fastest and best way to go about it (you'll mostly get "cool" marks).

mongy, Phoenix Wright really picks up in the last two cases, 4 & 5. Case 3 has some really annoying parts where you need to do a certain thing but the game isn't very good at clueing you in on it. But bear with it and you'll be in for a great ride on the last two cases.
Thanks, gd. It was the big ones I had the problems with. It just seemed so easy to just scribble over the little ones that I thought it would work for the big ones.

If you have a save file before you killed the boss, go stand on the dock and shoot some fish for awhile...

You still have a long way to go, such an awesome game, one of my top five for sure.

Since I got you killed I'll give you a friendly tip - those "moster popping out of the head guys" you encountered just after fish boss, when the moster pops out throw one of the flash grenades you've been stockpiling in your inventory wondering what to do with, kills them instantly.

Did you explore the rest of the lake after the boss?

No, I didn't. I figured I could go back any time but I went to the dock on the southwest (?) corner of the lake after I dammed the waterfall and there wasn't a boat there. Will one respawn? I see there is a treasure at the merchant shop across the lake.

Also, I haven't beaten that guy yet but I sure am glad I saved the doggie at the beginning of the game. I think I need more firepower and/or another big attache case. I suppose the rocket launcher takes up a lot of real estate.
You really shouldn't need a rocket launcher - grenades flame/regular, shotgun to the face, rifle to the face - should do the trick. If you're having trouble power up the shotgun as much as you can (it's not a total waste of money as it raises the resale value). Just be sure to hit the button as fast as possible when you climb up his back.

No, I don't think the boat comes back (not 100% sure), but you didn't miss anything that important.
Treasure, man, treasure. I got all kinds of shit that should be combined into something else but the game doesn't like my possible combinations. I keep 10 saves rolling so I suppose I could just go back to scan the lake and do the "damming the waterfall" part over. I kind of liked watching the villagers fly through the air as I shotgunned them while they were jumping onto the boxes.

...I guess I've turned this into the Resident Evil 4- 2.0 thread.
If you want to save some ammo, shoot the villagers in the legs/feet with the pistol while they're standing on the boxes, they stumble and fall into the water.
Predator: Concrete Jungle

It's cool to jump 30 feet in the air and decapitate untold hundreds, but I was hoping there'd be some kind of "free-roam" mode that'd allow me to stalk and kill at will. I want the ability to flay ANYBODY, man!

That, and some serious camera issues are keeping it from being the awesome game it could have been.

Saints Row - 100 Percent complete in the singleplayer storyline, including all activities-tagging-cd collecting. Jesus it was fucking tedious wrapping up the assorted activities. Escort missions were just awful. Story based missions weren't all that bad excluding the bullshit ending thrown at the end.

Test Drive Unlimited - Barely scratched the surface of the game. Opening up the gps map and zooming out made me wet my pants. The fucking island is huge.

Lego Star Wars 2 - Too bad they didn't put in some of the voices to compliment the gameplay. I could just hear C3P0 yelling when he saw the sandcrawler.

99 Nights - Something cool about decimating a field full of folk racking up 2000 kills. But then sometimes your dude gets lost in the crowd, mauled by trolls, and abused by dragons...hit a brick wall in that one mission. Quit playing it.

Company of Heroes demo - Just amazing. Call of Duty level graphics applied to an rts game. I don't know if my carpel tunnelled hands can take extended pc playing - if I ever finish Warcraft 3 I'll nab this.

Replaying Oblivion, just restarted as a Nord Sword Mage.

Getting some achievements on PGR3

And I have a copy of Perfect Dark Zero egging me on to give it a go.
Saints Row - I'm only 15% completed but I'm really looking for a lot of CD's and Tags and generally milking it, I like to take my time in beating a game like this as I don't usually replay them to much. Plus with my "gang" always hitting me up to play multiplay I just am coasting on the single player. As a side note I have to say that the Demolition Derby is aces. To bad it's so quick.
