LEGO Star Wars

Check out the new Game Informer for pics.

This looks like total fun.

Advanced word on this is actually very, very good. It's a bizzare concept designed for the kiddies, but apparently it's just a flat-out fun fun game.

Interestingly, LucasArts has nothing to do with it... it was developed by Giant and is coming from Eidos.

You can play Lego Darth Maul.

I'm fuckin' sold.
If I had a kid to play this with I could see it being fun. Otherwise, I think I'm just too old.

Is there Lego dismemberment? I'd better be able to remove arms and leg segments.
This is one of those concepts that I don't understand how it was approved, but whomever did isn't afraid to take risks. I can't believe it, but I'll probably end up getting this upon release. Legos + Star Wars = more ammo for my wife to ridicule my geekisms.

Off topic: when is that Movie Studios videogame being released? I remember Carl mentioning it a while back. Seemed interesting.

I think this looks awful and stupid, personally. Shades of Super Bombad Racing.

Just mentioned this is another thread, actually:

Activision has a very wide release window for this game that is basically anytime between April 2005 and March 2006. So, on other words, not real soon.

And, Slater, I agree that in concept this LEGO game sounds as strange and silly as "Super Bombad Racing", but that game just flat-out sucked and was not fun to play at all (beyond being dumb in the first place). Early word on this one, however (based on play-through feedback) has been that the game is actually a hoot to play. We'll see.

Looks like it could be a blast. Is it still on track for April?
Yep. Still slated for April.

By the way, the trailer's out: http://www.gametrailers.com/gamepage.php?id=1496

yes...

this game looks great, and yes you can sort of dismember at least droids, because the lego peices explode all over and you can use force powers to move them around.

the game is also set to be 2 player co-op, with something like 38 playable characters and each has a special move, or each type has a special, depending on who it is.

there are also vehicles to fly.

i've read positive hype about it, and the screenshots look beautiful.

should be better to play co-op than Jedi Power Battles.

i was gonna start a thread for this, good job Nordling.

Oh

that's just bad ass! Thank you for that trailer link Carl.

Fucking neat.
This looks crazily fun.
I don't know...the graphics look awfully blocky at this point...are you sure it'll be ready in time for release?

Fyi

just wanted to keep this thread going, can't wait to play this.

A pc demo of this can be obtained over at Worthplaying.com.

Servers seem to be getting hammered, I'm sure there will be more mirrors soon.
Bumping to raise awareness of the demo.

Demo didn't impress me much...looked great and I loved the presentation, but it was kind of boring.... Might have to give it another go
