Clicky

Apparently there are issues with the xbox power cord on some boxes. If you go to this website it will ask you for your serial number and build date. Just FYI for all you XBOX owners out there

To everyone who posted this info:

Thanks for the link, as I hadn't heard about this and my machine was eligible for cord replacement.

Looks like mine needs to be replaced too. And I thought all those sparks and black smoke were to add realism for first person shooters....

Damn they got me too. My fist recall, I don't know what to say. First off I would like to thank myself for buying this amazing piece of machinery, and then I would like to thank Xbox for coming out with just below par equipment. I'm sure all will be forgiven, it just takes time.

Thanks for posting the link, Izzim.

I guess I got lucky - mine's one of those Halo Bundle translucent green consoles.

How about you guys that have a recalled model? I'm just curious as to the manufacturing dates or when you got them....

OOPS! Never mind. Just saw the otriginal thread.

Seems like they're pretty much on top of this. Put an order in on Monday and it arrived yesterday. Of course, my Xbox was made in 2001 and it hasn't burst into flames yet, but hey, just to be sure...

I received mine yesterday also. FYI for the rest of you guys, the new plug has a bulky surge protector (like most hair dryers have now) on the end that plugs into the outlet so you might have to rearrange stuff depending on what kind of power strip/ surge protector you use.

Damn, you must've been way close to the distribution center. It took just under a week for mine to arrive.
