It's a star-nosed mole

Active all year round it spends a good deal of its time in the water, where it is an able swimmer, even in winter. The star-nosed mole prefers wet, swampy ground and subsists on a diet of worms, insects, and crustaceans. It has few natural enemies but sometimes falls prey to the great horned owl and to some of the larger fish.

Bleeeeeehhhhh, I saw that in Time a couple of hours ago and it jeebed me the heck out. You know why it's creepier than any bug? It's MOIST. I think that's why. Bleeeeech.

I associate tentacles with water-based animals. The fact that this mole has tentacles coming out of its face is fucking disturbing.
