Halo. Tonight. - Page 2

Slater, quit trying to kill the future of humanity.
There is no fate but what we make...till the sequel.

I too fixed my subwoofer, and let me tell you Halo 2 is BUMPIN. That coupled with my expletive laden rants makes me a bad neighbor.

Chocula,

Sorry I had to split! We're in the market for a house and I had to make a phone call. Hopefully I'll be back later tonight!

Heading on.

Haven't played in a while. Anyone up for a little this evening?
not that I'm trying to organize anything but anyone up for some clan only custom games playing exclusively the new maps this weekend? sitting through the playlists is tedious and lame.
Doubt anyone is still playing, but if so I'll probably be on around 10PM Central most nights for the next week or two.
A friend and I have started playing again.

Until we get pissed off at the assholery and quit for the night. The name's Medium Dave. Send me a request if you're interested.
I still hop on every now and then and play.

Wayward 1 is the gamertag - send a friend request.
I'll send out some invites tonight.

I don't even understand how some people can kill me so fucking fast with the battle rifle. I'm pretty good with the "no shields" rifle rounds, but with shields on it takes me a while to cut anyone down.

There is also some sort of lunge thing I've seen people do, usually happens when I stick a grenade on them, they shoot forward really fast and blow me up too. Not sure what that is.

It's just your standard melee attack. At close range, it'll actually make you move quite a good distance, a la the sword (only without the sword). Additionally, if you happen to be trying to bash someone in the air, it'll jump you up in the air as well.

Oh, and BTW, Gamertag is below if folks are playing tonight.

That's what I was thinking, guess I never noticed in Single Player just how far and fast the melee will move you. Thanks.
I've got some free time tonight. Send me an invite, otis. Gamertag is ShadowSoldier82
post #65 of 84
Already sent Crow. I'll probably be on around 10, could be a little later though, I'll keep an eye out for you.
Otis, what's yer Gamertag? Mine's Jacob Singer 45. Send me a friend request, I wouldn't mind joining in. Plus, I suck, so you can score some good kills offa me.
OtisTC

Didn't know about the "45", I sent a request to Jacob Singer a few days ago. I'll resend, then kill you.

Crow - thanks for the games and multi-play tutorial. Again, sorry I didn't chat much, the wife was sleeping in the next room.

***edit***

I still don't quite get how the talking thing works. If I just talk, no buttons, anyone near me can hear it, I get that. Still not quite understanding who can hear me with the white button. My team regardless of "freinds" playing? Just "freinds"? And in a free-for-all, no teams match does it do anything?
Depends on the game. If it's a team game, holding the white button means only your team will hear (although members of the other team will be able to hear you regardless if you're close enough to them). if you brought friends in with you, and they're on the other team, you won't be able to talk to them only.

In a free-for-all, holding the white button means nothing. You're basically talking to yourself.

And yeah...good times last night. No worries about the silence. I'm usually the quiet type once the killin' starts anyway.

Is anyone playing Halo2 on Live w/ a 360? My friend got a 360 for christmas from his g/f (the girl didn't even plan on getting one. She went to Target to get an electric car starter, and the sales guy talked her into the premium package. First, I was shocked Target even had one. Second, I told him to marry her because she's good looking, too).

Anyway, we're not fantastic players, but we are consistently ranked in the mid to low 20's. Solid. Using the new controller, however, was impossible. And not because the grenade buttons had moved, but because MC just felt like he moved "differently". It was hard to explain, but it was extremely noticeable. We just got destroyed. All timing was off.

Has anyone else come across this? How long did it take to get back up to speed?

Looked amazing on a HD flat-screen, however. The graphics were improved. Lots more detail. Can't wait to try some real 360 games soon.
actually I have noticed my stats improve tremendously since I began using the 360 controller. The only problem is the location of the team chat button.
I've noticed in a few of my games recently that some of the other players will blink in & out, like they're warping a few feet to move instead of running. Is this a bad connection problem or something else? I also got killed a few times by some guy with a shotgun last night, only thing was the shotgun had almost no pause time between shots, it fired like the magnum (or close to it). Is there a better way to use the shotgun that I'm missing out on?

Did you adjust your sensitivity levels in the Options menu?

Otis, I've never really noticed the shotgun being able to do that. You might have been playing against a cheater/modder. And yeah, if guys are "sliding" over the terrain that's usually a sign of lag.

Is that a problem on my end or theirs? I've only seen it a handful of times.

It can be on anybody's side, but it seems to be the host's fault for me most of the time. Before you launch a game you should note those little bars to the right of everyone's Gamertag. Full green bars means good connection, yellow worse, red bad, etc..

From what I understand if someone in the group is playing on a 360 it tries to default to that player as host, as it's the more powerful machine, but that might just be internet gossip.

Matched games try to hook you up with other players that have good connections to you. If you're connecting to specific friends you might want to see who has the fastest connection and assign that person as the host.

What'll it be tonight? PGR3, COD2, PDZ?
I need to play some Perfect Dark Zero online multiplayer. So far the only multiplayer I've tried with it was the split-screen co-op (which was a blast).

I think I must be missing the online multiplayer chromosome or DNA strand or something...
It's alright... I'm game.

Once I figured out where the little bars you mentioned were, I've been monitoring them obsessively and I always have full green. I'm hoping that translates to someone else causing lag, not me. I have no interest in going through the hell of setting up all my shit again.

Singer, do you have a new gamertag? I've never seen you online, but I'm definitely up for some online PDZ. My new tag is Saint Mantooth, just in case.

My new one is Jacob Singer 45

Things I've learned in Rumble training.

1. Learn the maps quickly. It's amazing how after I mange one kill, the person I've killed gets right back to me and shoots me in the back.

2. I suck using the energy sword.

3. Plasma grenades rock. Especially in a firefight between 3 other players. Easy way to get a triple kill.

4. Sniping is great; however, it is difficult to concentrate on the headshot and be aware of someone coming up behind you. (On single player, sniping is so much easier, since the AI is predictable. Not so easy in LIVE).

5. Oddball is the most annoying game type. On the reverse, Slayer rules.

6. It's amazing how long one can get engrossed in those 10 minute sessions. 4 hours passed by so very quickly.

a few comments and questions...

Since this is kind of/sort of the Halo 2 thread now I figured I'd throw in my 2 cents.

-"Plasma Wars"(team or rumble) is the shittiest gametype I have ever played in matchmaking, and it pops up way too much. It's all plasma rifles(blue and red) and no grenades. So basically it's "shootshootshootoverheatWHACK!" the entire match. Sometimes it's easier to just run around doing melee attacks instead of shooting at all. It doesn't help matters that this usually pops up on... shit I forget the name of the stage... the one that's like a bigger, darker Midship with the statue, the small outdoor area, and the tree(that normally has a sword in it). The stage is too damn dark, and blue teams, or dark characters have a big advantage.
-"SWAT" is awesome, but unfortunately I must be in the minority in that opinion because everyone loves to quit Team SWAT matches, thus screwing up the chance for a good game. It's nice to play a gametype where the battle rifle is actually a great weapon.

To anyone who's played some single player Halo 2 on the 360...
Is there still pop-in during the cutscenes?

I had a few more questions but I seem to have forgotten them when I was trying to remember the name of that damn stage... stupid memory.

SWAT is totally great if you're a good aim (headshots with the BR) or know how to lob a grenade. It can get pretty intense. I love it.

Oh, and the stage you're thinking of is Gemini.

so, the bugger is heading to the pc...late, again. Making it a Vista exclusive is just sooo smart on the part of Microsoft. Yes, I'll upgrade to another bug addled OS to play a game I already have on the x-box/360 platform.
