"Head" parts ways with hard rocker type guys

Quote:
NEW YORK (Billboard) -- Korn guitarist Brian "Head" Welch has parted ways with the hard rock act, citing a recent religious awakening.

Welch broke the news Sunday on Bakersfield, California, station KRAB-FM.

"I had it in my heart to come here and explain to you," Welch said. "I'm good friends with Korn. I love those guys, and they love me, and they're very happy for me."

Addressing the aggressive tone of the music he made with Korn, Welch said, "Anger is a good thing, and if kids want to listen to Korn, good, but there's happiness after the anger. I'm going to show it through my actions how much I love my fans."

Welch added that he would be appearing at a local church on February 27, during which time he would "speak (about) how I got to this place in my life, and I'll answer all your questions."

On its official Web site (http://www.korn.com), Korn's remaining members said they respect Welch's wishes and hope "he finds the happiness he is searching for." The group is in the studio working on a new album, due in September, which will be its first since fulfilling its contract with Epic last year.

For now, no replacement for Welch has been named, nor has a new label home for the band.

Korn is angry? When did that happen? I thought they were just whiny.

All day he dreams about JESUS' SACRIFICE.

I'm fundamentally opposed to this whole "God" thing, and I'm no fan of Korn, but a situation like this doesn't always fuck things up.

One of my favorite bands, Sunny Day Real Estate, broke up in '95. The singer, Jeremy Enigk, had accepted Jesus Christ, his Lord And Savior, into his heart. Then in '98 the band reformed, and made 2 more kickass albums, that didn't have anything to do with Jesus.

So, don't despair, Korn fans. Don't despair.

Perhaps he had a good music awakening as well.

i don't believe in god but i think it's pretty sleazy for people to bash some guy for his beliefs.

i do believe in God and also think that its sleazy to bash the dude for his beliefs. Good for him, though.

"Brian has found out that God's real, and he's stoked,"

I am stoked that he's decided to look like jheri-curl Jesus.

Wow.

Crazy. Guy was actually a really good guitarist. I liked their first three records, but it looks like he's seen the light faster than his bandmates.

A good guitarist? I saw this posted on another board once they heard one of the Korn guitarists had quit, but I could not help but agree with it:

"Head? Now, is that the guy who hit the same growly low chord over and over or is that the guy who played the 3 high-pitched squirrely notes on top of it? I never can tell."

Squirrelly.
