Star Wars: Republic Commando Pre-Release Discussion

I haven't seen a whole lot of discussion on this game (although I have been "out of the loop" for two months now, so who knows..). Anyway, does anyone have an early word on this game? I think it looks like an amazing game (if I only had a nickel for every time I uttered that dreadful phrase, only to shell out $49.99 for a game that is worth the same amount as used toilet paper) but I amjust not sure if I will buy. I'll probably rent first... who knows..

Just curious as to others opinion on this game..

Before you all jump on the bandwagon, I just saw the Republic Commando Demo thread two below this one. I freely admit being an idiot, not reading all the threads, blah, blah, blah..

Okay, better now. FYI: I am looking for opinions on the XBOX version.

IGN gave it an 8.2, said the single player was short and the squad elements were weak. For someone who doesn't like squad based shooters though (me), their complaints actually sound like things I would prefer. If you pre-order from Gamestop they are giving away a Star Wars novel that is supposed to tie the game to the EP2 & EP3.

Basically it is Halo Light....Master Chief meets Rainbow Six meets Star Wars. I love all three and therefore, already placed a reserve on it.

Anybody get it yet? Gamestop called yesterday and said it would be in today, but I still haven't made it over there yet.

I just got the automated message telling me that my pre-order should be in my local Gamestop tomorrow. Looking forward to this one.
