So, it's out there. Anyone have a run on this?

im away from home for a week so i wont get a chance to play it until sunday or so but im crazy excited.. ive been following plans for release and its been a long time in the coming with a few snags and delays along the way... however the graphics look INCREDIBLE.. lifelike even.. and ive read that the driving physics have been even more fine-tuned to give it the most realistic driving game experience possible...

needless to say once i do play it i probably wont see anyone or anything (excluding the tv) for a long, long time... haha

It looks like they still havent done anything for the racing AI. All computer opponents race exactly the same way with no regard to you or where you are.

Its not a huge deal but it does make put a damper on the game since the multiplayer is basically nonexsist. So even with all those other cars on the road its all just a time trial with flashy scenery.

I dig, but I'm having trouble getting the game to save the video settings at HDTV or even progressive scan. It'll flip into the mode, I'll hit the accept button, then it resets. It better not have something to do with the fact that I'm playing it on a new slimmed down PS2.

I have no doubt it will be just as solid as the previous ones.

I've got the 900 degree rotation steering wheel, and I can't wait to get this. I played it out at SEMA this year in the Subaru booth, and it is beautiful. I wish that the AI was better, but I could see myself losing quite a bit of time on this one.

I think i wanna at least rent this this weekend.....never much into the earlier GT releases, but this one looks good enough to rent....so i'll give it a whirl.

It's fantastic. Still ploughing through the license tests. Getting sick of people whining about the AI. If you don't like it, go play something else. I've always felt the AI in GT was some of the best out there. Certainly the only one that manages to keep the racing close in most cases. And a bit of wheel banging is to be expected.

Lot of folk are having trouble even booting the game on their PS2's. Doesn't work with some modchips. Plus, being dual layer, some PS2's have trouble reading it.

As I said, it wasnt a big complaint. Im still happy I bought the game but after three previous versions with progress in all other areas of the games moving by leaps and bounds Id think someone in the development team might think to add smarter AI. The AI doesnt want to pass you, it only wants to run its line and if you get in the way itll just collide as opposed to passing you.

Anyway, I have a question for the rest of you with the game. What are A-Spec and B-Spec points used for? Is that whats been automatically unlocking the courses? Ive looked through the manual and didnt see any refrence to it at all and was just wondering if Im missing out on something.

I'm sure car guys are jerking off to this across the world, I can see how it would be amazing...but it's not so much GT4 as it is GT3.5.

And no online play is ridiculous after everyone said that the reason it was delayed so much was to add online.

I checked it out at a friends house over the weekend and the graphics are amazing. You can save pictures of your car onto a jump drive and save them to your computer.

Or GT 1.4.

I got it last week and have played it a bit. I’ve actually spent way more time going through and checking out all the cars you can buy and the tracks you can run on. I’ve done a bunch of runs on the Nurburgring for fun. I’ve started out with an Evo VIII MR. I drive an 2003 Evo VIII GSR in the real world and I figured this would allow me to compare actual vs. virtual. The car sounds and feels about right. It seems to do the little wiggle under hard braking just like the real deal.

I haven’t had any problems running the game. I have noticed the problem with the other cars not wanting to pass. I’ve hit in the back several times. The game looks great and I’m impressed with the amount of music choices that are provided. I kind of liked how they went from typical Japanese orchestral game music to Van Halen’s “Panama” during the intro.

In the past 4 days, I've amassed a TON of hours on this game. Bought it monday...already about 20% through the game. Honestly, it's the best Gran Turismo game yet. Blows GT 3 out of the water easily. One nice thing I like about it was the fact that you can import your GT3 savegame...and start off with 100k dollars and the A and B licenses completed.
