Famous beauties Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce Knowles are to appear in a new Pepsi ad. The girls will be playing the undercover agents showing their martial arts moves together with David Beckham in Hong Kong. J.Lo, 33, and Beyonce, 23, will be wearing skintight leather catsuits, while Beckham, 29, will appear in a cool black outfit, brandishing a Japanese Kendo sword.

Both singers and Real Madrid star spent this fortnight training together. For David it is his third appearance in Pepsi ads, earlier he played a gladiator and a cowboy.

According to This is London the new ad is described as “Kill Bill meets Crouching Tiger: Hidden Dragon” and costs $1 million. This week the ad is to be released in 170 countries.

Meanwhile Beckham’s wife Victoria, known as “Posh Spice” gave birth to their third son, whom they called Cruz, their spokesman said Sunday. The baby was born in Madrid, where David had a football match with Athletic Bilbao.

I guess Asian is in. Apologies to those not familiar with David Beckham the soccer player, good player way too overexposed.

I think the word is ubiquitous.

Beckham is just about average as a footballer. As I've often said to people, if he looked like Paul Scholes (or Paul Giamatti for Americans) we'd never have heard of him.

He's one of the best English passers and deadball kickers ever, maybe the best.

If he looked like Paul Scholes, he'd just be that ugly midfielder on Team England. Average footballers don't captain an elite world team for the better part of a decade.

They do when we have a country as media-obsessed as England. But when were we an elite team? Let's face it, in the scheme of things, England are poor.

The concept of a great England team died with Paul Gascoigne's career.

You've nailed it - albeit somewhat unwittingly. Beckham wouldn't be anywhere near an English jersey if he looked like Paul Scholes. Scholes is a better player than him in every conceivable way. To elaborate on your point (via the powerful use of italics)

Average footballers (who are ginger, dumpy, and for all intents and purposes, ugly) don't captain an elite world team for the better part of a decade

You seem to be missing the fact that Beckham is Beckham because aside from the fact that he's an average football player, he is very, very good-looking. If he wasn't good-looking, he would be anonymous, forgotten, irrelevant. Its the way the world works. Depressing, but true.

I’d be a liar if I said the thought of him being whacked about the head with a tire iron for real didn’t interest me in any way. Sadly, all I’m going to see is Beckham acting alongside two gorgeous women (no doubt pocketing millions for his efforts).

It’s too depressing for further comment, really.

Poor how? I can understand if you mean under-acheiving, but if you're talking about the quality of the players England are among the best in the world- they just need to turn up to the big games.

Not half as sad as watching as J-Lo and Beyonce trying to look tough onscreen, they look about as threatening as a bottle of shampoo conditioner.
