The game is actually fun now.

Yay. At least I'm not the only one. I don't feel like such a bitch.

Holy cow, does this game try hard to be cool. So much so that it actually makes me uncomfortable, like the hyper-active kid at the party who wants to be your friend SO BAD.

Bah, I think that's awesome. So over-top and cheesy that it's downright wonderful. It's refreshing to see a game with a badass who is over-stylish and snarky to make up for the quiet brooding fuckers games have been plagued with (POP: Warrior Within anybody?).

Yeah, that's just so rare in Japanese games...

Well, yeah. Look at all the Final Fantasy main characters in recent years. And if it's not the main character, it's someone right next to the main character who's a dark brooding guy with a SECRET PAST.

Dante's a refreshing change from the sea of angry. Kind of like a Sonic the Hedgehog in a sea of Shadow the Hedgehogs.

When the message telling you that easy mode is now available, you should switch over. People like you is what made DMC2 Too. Fucking. Easy.

I'm pretty sure the switch in developers was what caused the difficulty change in DMC2. To be fair, DMC3 is harder than the original DMC was (but it's still fair at least, probably better in its challenge than Ninja Gaiden ever was), and I wouldn't mind if they had started adding variable difficulty levels in the beginning.

That, and many people complaining about the difficulty of DMC1, especially Japanese gamers. I mean seriously, DMC2's difficutly didn't start getting decent until DMD mode. But by then I had played the game 2 times too many, so I lost interest.

Though I do agree that they probably should've left the U.S. difficulty of DMC3's normal the same as Japan. I got my butt seriously kicked like never before. But I loved every minute of it.

So what's an easy way of beating the Elemental Bash Bros. in mission 5 (or is it 4?)? I'm dreading playing through the level again only to lose yet again at the end.

Use Cerebus and the Revolver attack. Try to power it up to Level 2 first. It hits often enough and hard enough to deflect their strikes if they try to take a swing at you. Also, stay mobile, and try not to be fighting between them. And don't get take one down at a time, attack one for a bit and then the other for a bit, because if only one of them dies, the other will become twice the pain in the ass until you kill him.

For those turned off by the difficulty, for those who loved DMC3, the SE was released yesterday to no fanfare, but quick sell-outs.

What has been added:
Difficulty mapped to JPN version (our Normal was their Hard, our Easys were the same, and our Hard becomes the new Very Hard)

***Save system options (our version was a ballbreaker...continue at last checkpoint if a yellow orb available) The Japanese continue system is now available. Continue at last checkpoint FREE, continue right where you are (rebirth) with Gold Orb. This Gold system will solve a lot of the frustrations right away. No more getting to the Boss, getting waxed, and having to do it all over again. Continue right at the boss (they are still hard).

Just want to fight? Bloody Palace, 10,000 enemy selections to practice and orb farm (gain orbs to buy new moves and items). No mission fuss.

Played already and could care less? Try playing with Vergil (the brother of the lead character and a major enemy in DMC3), with his own cutscenes and story. He's also more powerful.

I do believe they have also added some Styles for Dante.

Kick Jester's ass...Jester is now a Boss for both Dante and Vergil to fight.

Oh yes...$20. $20 for one of the best action games of 2005 supercharged.

It's a bargain folks, and with the controllable difficulty, even the pansies can get their money's worth.

At $20, many places are sold out (it wasn't highly ordered), but they'll get more. If you bought it already...rebuy it (I did, it's worth it). If you haven't, but are interested, now is the time. Hard to beat the value for the cost.

Got the SE yesterday.

NOW it's perfect.

The difficulty, while still high, is no longer as cheap as it was, the new continue system is a godsend, the game is PACKED with goodies, especially if you still have save data from the original version, and, overall, it's just more fun.

Capcom loves us all.

The difficulty scared me away from the original release, even though I was pretty psyched about it too. But knowing me as well as I think I do, I'd play it a bit and get creamed, and stop enjoying it after a while. I'll definitely check the SE version out though.

I remember the original being talked about in terms of Ninja Gaiden difficulty. Right there it lost me. Ninja Gaiden is unbelievably awesome, but it kicked my ass. I got to the Horseback boss guys ONCE (and even that took some time) and I haven't played it since... I need to be able to play a game and make some progress without having to do the same area over and over again because I rarely get extended periods of time to play.

I bought the SE last saturday at an eb games about 20 miles from where I live, and they only had one left, the display case one. After finally playing it I thought it was really cool, I tried the normal mode, and it was just as difficult as I had heard, so when I unlocked easy mode I just used that one. Beat it in just over 8 hours total, over the course of 3 days.

I still don't know what is so bad about DMC 2, I liked it. It was like playing a John Carpenter flick, downbeat almost all the way through. I swear the music in the second level out in the streets is like music straight from one of his movies.

it was a change of producers that pretty much made the differences between the games. i may get the special edition of DMC3 oneday but after completing God of War i don't know whether i'll like the game (as much). i do concede, however, that the cut scences in DMC3 are stylish.

I really liked a lot of the outlandish stuff in this game. It made me laugh a lot, like dante riding the rocket and vergil cutting dante's bullets in half then sending them back to him only to have them be cut in half with dante's sword. Reminded me of when I saw Transporter 2 except this was more acceptable being a videogame and all.
