Customer service: Do you think they record you while you are on hold?

I once went to the bathroom while on hold to talk to a cable TV provider. Do you think they record you while you are on hold? Most large customer service departments have that message, "This conversation my be recorded for quality assurance."

I read an article in the New York Times about the people who analyze those calls. Yes, they record them, yes they listen to them, even when the elevator muzak is playing while you're on hold.

One of the guys said that you could make a Broadway show JUST from listening to those recordings. Human drama takes place...parents yelling at kids, husbands yelling at wives, disasters occuring, etc. Be careful what you say when Big Brother is listening...

I like to pull a HOME ALONE and play machine gun sound effects while they have me on hold.

I usually curse and complain about being on hold. No wonder I get such crappy customer service.
