And I remember how ecstatic I was when I discovered "Compute!" magazine. It had lots of games and applications in it, and they were all written in Basic, and they tried to cover most of the Basic flavors, like TI Basic, Commodore/Vic 20 basic, and Tandy Basic. That's where I started learning about programming, by typing in those 100-line or so Basic programs.
From the Tandy/Bill Gates ad:
"Our newest software product, MS-Windows, is an integrated windowing environment. It will let personal computer users combine individual programs into a powerful, integrated system. ...Our engineers were quite impressed with processing speed of the Tandy 2000's 80186 microprocessor, too."
"Tandy 2000 systems start at $2999..."
