Apple Computer Inc. can force three online publishers to disclose where they got confidential information about new Apple products, a judge tentatively ruled.

Judge James Kleinberg of state court in San Jose, Calif., refused to shield the publishers from Apple's inquiries.

Lawyers for the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a group that seeks to protect civil liberties related to technology, sought the order on behalf of the publishers.

"We're disappointed that the tentative ruling was a denial," said Kurt Opsahl, a lawyer for the foundation. He said he would appeal the ruling.
So this begs the question: are movie studios begin doing the same with site like Chud, DH, and AICN? Or Video game companies against gaming sites?

No. Because, unlike Apple, film studios like the scoop sites. Free publicity.

That isn't what I'm referring to. I'm referring to the legal threats made to a ton of sites printing EP3 material including (due to people in the SW threads in Franchises) Nick and CHUD.

Moriarty jumped off a bridge? Wait, what?

with all the recent court rulings saying that journalists are not entitled to keep their sources secret, i don't know if this case will be decided the way people would like. i believe technically, the constitutional right of freedom of the press doesn't guarantee the same confidential privilege that a husband and wife or church confessional have. i do know there are some politicians out there trying to enact laws to give the press that coverage but i don't know where they are with that.

Nothing happened to Harry, but they did, on their own, find out who it was that showed the movie to Harry and subsequently fired him.
