Cube Zero

Ran across this in BB the other day and gave it a rent. I'd never even heard of it before. There's a reason for that. It basically sucks. It's a prequel to Cube and explains who is running the show behind the scenes as this time for the most part your looking into the cube from the outside and being the observer. It's a really dumb plot that does little to really explain anything and even the kills weren't all that spectacular. They could have taken this series of movies into Final Destination territory and focused on the gore and the traps and such and could have had a solid little horror franchise on their hands but they squandered it. By all means walk on by this one when you see it on the shelf.

Hmm, thats a shame, the 'franchise' has an awesome premise, and the sequel really didnt build on it much, I mean, again I liked the concept of a hypercube, but it just never came together in an interesting manner, guess these films would have been better off as novels.

I am very disappointed in the direction they went with the sequels to one of the coolest movies ever. The original "CUBE" was great when I first saw way back when it first came out to video. Honestly I think that they should have left the mystery of the cube a mystery and instead focused on different people in the cube in different situations if they felt the need for sequels.

Once I found out that Cube 2: Hypercube wasn’t going to feature real celebrities thrown into a real cube, I lost interest.

I love the first film, but there was no need for a sequel. There are only so many things that you can do with that premise. Should have left it with just one.

This is better than the second one. It's done by the same guy too. But the tension and the brain drumming just wasn't there like the first one. The cube was nice and reminded me of the first design.

There was a few good kills in it, but not enough for hardcore gore hounds.

I heard some rumours of a possible Cube tv-series?

I guess you can call me a hardcore gore hound then, which would be true anyway.

The kills really didn't do anything for me. The first one, the melting dude, was ok but I wasn't even very impressed with that.

I can't see them doing anything interesting with this premise for TV.

Maybe because they weren't very bloody?

Sometimes it just frustates me how people ruin projects with amazing potential, the problem today is no imagination. No bloody imagination!!! Lemme write the next movie damnit, I'll show you a fucking cube!!! A fucking rubix cube of death!

There's gotta be bucket loads of blood and semen everywhere.

The key is using ambiguity and mystery as an advantage, nobody wants a lame excuse for the cube, they just want the cube.

And of course blood and semen.

A line that should have been used instead of making the last two films.

Person number 1: "Do you think they erased our minds before they put us in here?"
Person number 2: "I don't remember."

Hilarity ensues.
