Not that I can think of. I think this is either another revisionist thing, or just something shown in a promo pic not actually seen in the movie (i.e. the hair not covering the hands thus looking like paws), assuming you're referring to the hi-res pic in the other thread.

Chewbacca is currently selling cereal with those fingers. I only remember strings of hair in the original movies.

Probably the one I currently have as wallpaper, hi-res action pose with white background.

The fingers really threw me off for some reason. They look so odd.

As you can see from the following pics, Chewie's hands are little more than black gloves. You can even see the stitches and seems.
Unless viewed with the palms up, Chewie's hands are completely hidden by hair.




So I guess he did and didn't. Mayhew was wearing black glove under there, but aside from the odd publicity shot, you never saw them.

I'm surprised Chewie's fingers are getting so much talk. there's a lot of hoo-ha about them on the dedicated SW boards, too.

I would have never even noticed if someone hadn't pointed it out.

I was confused when I first saw those fingers cause in the EU I thought they mentioned the wookies having claws. Like in the Zahn books and stuff? Like it helped them climb trees and stuff. I know, I know, the EU doesn't mean shit.

Yeah, I remember Zahn mentioning something like the fact that he has retractible fingers or claws, to help climb trees. Dunno, in the terms of the movies the EU doesn't mean anything (I think the whole Death Star thing in Ep. II was a big middle finger to the EU).
