itching for this game to show up at the local games store (taking priority over Band of...Brothers in Arms). after upgrading the comp to windows xp-sp2 the original copy of the game wasn't right anymore. any of you suckers, who aren't swallowed by the charms of City of Heroes, looking forward to this followup to a damn good game?

update: awesome. the cool cats released a patch making the first game compatible with xp-sp2. HERE.

I loved the first one, so I'm sure I'll try this one out as well.

I got FF vs the Third Reich pre ordered, citizens....
THe Orignal FF was a Great Game.
And kudos for Irrational for patching the original to play on SP2.
In a age when legacy game support is nonexistent, it's nice to see a company that cares.
And their Swat 4 looks sweet also.
Too bad Lucasarts has pretty much given up Legacy support.

You guys know there's a demo out for this game, right? It's pretty damn good.

Looking forward to this release myself.

Ok, I have to ask a retarded question. What is SP2?

Windows XP Service Pack 2. The service pack inadvertently broke Freedom Force. Irrational fixed it.

downloading NOW.

I'm amazed that the screen resolution options available for the first game are generous. looks stunning in 16:9 (16:10 actually)...hope those same options carry over to the sequel. Too bad the lawyers got involved and squashed the user made skins. I have to see if they're still in my brothers closet on floppies...as I can't locate any marvel skins I downloaded ages ago. I wonder if they're up on the torrents anywhere.

Yeah.. I'll be getting this'un.

The first game was such a breath of fresh air when it came out. So much crazy squad combat, so much great customization, such fantastic voice acting and cut scenes.

This is the first I've heard about FFvsTR. Is it going to be an expansion, or a standalone game with a new graphics engine?
It's the sequel.
I would get this today if it weren't for the measly 60 bucks in my bank account (damn you Mr. Bills!). I'll definitely get this game though, the mods you can find on it are insane!
For anybody here who had not played the original, do so immediately. It is a absolute blast.
If the FFVTTR is 80% as good, you will get your money's worth.

Standalone with a entirely new grpahics engine.
Be Warned, the ststem requirements are consdierably higher for the sequel..

I picked this up on Saturday, and I'm about 3/4 of the way done with the campaign. It's been great fun so far, and the new characters and their powers are a blast. The fact that Green Genie can turn your foes into potted plants makes my day.

I like the hellboy-esque guns on Tombstone. Dude has a great origin story.

Jesus, there are waaaay too many strategy games coming out to find time to play em all. I still got Rome and Pirates on a wishlist. This came out last week. I think Act of War comes out today.
I'm definitely picking this up next week.. I borrowed a friend's copy of the original, didn't know what to expect and loved it.

Played the demo and liked it.. Green Genie's picked up some of El Diablo's funnier lines and seems like she's the smart-alecky Jubilee of the group, though in a less annoying way.

Just beat the campaign this morning. The last level is a BITCH and a HALF. Definitely the hardest fight in the game, and it just.. keeps.. going.

Cool ending, though, and definitely gets me pumped for the inevitable.. *possible spoiler*
FREEDOM FORCE VS. ENERGY X! *end possible spoiler*
post #17 of 21
I just beat it today as well.. and yes, that last fight was nasty. Although once I got in it, it was pretty easy to figure out which characters work best in that final battle.. the challenge now will be trying that battle with other characters.

I would have finished it earlier if it weren't for that stupid Polymorph bug, too. But Irrational says they are going to patch it, which is cool.

Now if only I can get some cool custom skins.. the four they provided were, for lack of a better word, lame.
Give it about two weeks time. We'll be seeing custom models and skins all over the place by then.

I had this great MODOK model/skin for FF1, but it doesn't work with the sequel, alas.

I have a feeling that Irrational knows this game will be customized and modded to death like the last one was and provided the four custom skins more as an example then anything else.

I am about a quarter of the way through and am having a blast. I love that Irrational went to a great deal of effort to have just the right flavor of World War II cheese ("I Haff Vailed der Vatherland!").
I might go slow if there is a bug in the final level. That can be a game killer, so I will probably take my time until there is a patch.
And COngrats to irrational for spitting in the eye of Political Correctness and actually having a Japanese villain..some thing most WW2 era spoofs are scared to death of.
And if you favorties Mods and Skins for FF1 don't work, be patient. In a few months time most of them will have been ported over to FF2 since this game has such a huge and fanatic fan following.
I am still amazed and overjoyed there is a sequel since the first one was considered to have been a dissapointment from a sales standpoint. It got great reviews but not so great sales.
This is one case where I think a enthusiastic fan following actually convinced Sierra to take a chance on a sequel.

Actually, Irrational own the rights to Freedom Force and they self-published FFvTR. Vivendi Universal Games is only the distributor.

The bug isn't with the final level per se, but with one power. When you Polymorph an enemy (using the Green Genie), it turns that enemy into a random char (like a giant ant or a thug) who fights for you for a while, then turns back into the baddie.

The only problem is, if you kill said char before he polymorphs back, and it was a character that you had to kill in order to advance to the next part of the mission (he had a red arrow by him, for example), then nothing happens when its time for him to change back and you sit there twiddling your thumbs fora while before realization sets in that you have to replay the mission.
