Any new info on Jurassic Park 4?

I love me some Dinos, does anyone know what's happening with Part 4? I can't be the only one waiting for this flick.
As of right now they are still shuffling script ideas and such.

I was thinking it would be released later this year as it's been four years since the last one and there's been a 4 year gap between each film: ('93,'97,'01)

Being the huge dino geek that I am, I'm hoping they introduce some marine reptiles into the mix: plesiosaurs, giant mesosaurs, icthyosaurs, etc.

Thanks man, at least it seems like its going to happen. I admit I was excited with the report last summer of the intelligent commando dinos that someone reported at AINTITCOOL, but I haven't heard anything since.

While that crazy-as-hell idea seemed oddly interesting in a coked-out way, I'm guessing they ditched it since they are still in the script stage. Who knows what the hell it will end up being. As long as they take it off those islands, I'll be happy.
I really hope they film that script. It was belly achingly funny.
I don't care so much what the story is - I just want a movie with tons of people getting eaten by dinosaurs.

JP3 was okay, but it would have been better if it had more than 3 deaths and they didn't all come within 30 minutes of the opening credits. I want some crazy, frenzied dino-action with tons of people getting chomped and squished, like those old Dinosaurs Attack!! trading cards.
Hopefully there will not be a god damn kid in it.
Yeah, I also loved that bizzare story idea revealed at AICN a while back, totally nuts, they should go for it.

Oh, I'm sure they'll stick a kid in it, maybe this time the kis will get eaten though. I understand the need for the kid characters in the first film, they were actually pretty good and were necessary for Grant's story and character arc. The Lost World, oh man, I love the movie except for Malcom's kid and the finale on the Mainland, which had real potential but just ended up being DUMB. In 3 the whole basis for the story was the rescue of the kid, so it was hard to get around having one for the duration of the picture, and we already had the hero worship with Grant in part 1, the chracter should have been a kid who was scared shitless to be there. And for the Record, I think part 3 was a fucking fun Dino flick, the set-pieces were great, action, dinos, all really good. One of the better cash cow sequels in a long time, plus it had the Aviary, that was a great damn scene.

Does anyone have that wacky script?, Id love to read the whole thing.

I remember reading this story about a year ago, or something. I couldn't believe it was serios. What a really, stupid idea for a fourth JP movie. Commando dinos? That's something you'd see on Sci-Fi channel after Manquito.
I too have enjoyed all the JP flicks for the mindless popcorn thrills they provide. While the first is the best, the LW has grown on me the past couple of years: that trailer hanging over the cliff scene is terrific and I just love how we get to see twice as many dinos than in the orginal. While the third film was basically a "greatest hits package", I enjoyed the introduction of the Spinosaurus and it was about time they brought in the pterodactyls and used that scene from the orginial JP novel. They should try moving the story away from the islands and go the LW route of giving it an epic scale of bigger proportions.

What do you guys think of introducing some prehistoric mammals into the fray? You know have some wooly mammoths or saber toothed tigers battling a T-Rex. I know this wouldn't be "Jurassic Park" if we see these types of animals but it would add something new to the franchise.

Dude, JP is all about the Dino Carnage, But a Mammoth/T-rex fight would be a sight to behold. Ah, fuck it, giant mutated versions of a Mammoth and Saber Tooth tiger would be cool. The raptors could have a huge fight with the Tigers with lots of Human fodder in the middle. That does sound sweet man. Good call on your part. Though I'd still like to see the intelligent dino soldiers idea done as well, its so geeky and cheesy, I love that kind of shit.

I still have my old Dinosaurs Attack!!! trading cards. In pretty damn good condition too.

God, those cards had some brutal imagery.

Nothing like them will ever be produced again.

I also have the old Gulf War trading cards. And some people thought it was just a gag in Garden State.

I keep my Colin Powell in a plastic case.

Unfortunately, having "something" battle a T-Rex nowadays is both no longer original and bordering on *yawn* territory.

- JP2: That other big dino beating a t-rex
- King Kong (coming soon): Giant ape taking on and defeating two (or three) T-Rex's
- Meg (coming soon): Giant shark attacking and killing a T-Rex
- Sound of Thunder (coming soon): Hunters time travel to past to hunt, yep...you guessed it, a T-Rex

Three of these will coming out within the next calendar year, and all feature a T-Rex.
MEG won't have that scene with the T-Rex sadly.

Has anyone been able to get their hands on the Jurassic Park IV script that Moriarty reviews a while back? I'd love to give it a read.
I don't know man. If they do let me know. My kid is getting antsy. Asks me once a week when this damn thing is going to shoot.
I'll go see this movie if Michael Crichten is involved. The books were great, and the first two movies were good. But the third one just could have been better. I can't remember if Crichten was involved in the third film, but it just didn't have the punch that usually comes with a Crichten book or movie. Granted, I've only watched ER and the Jurassic Park movies. But still.

I've read several of his books and they were great. So here's to hoping that he's involved so that this will be good.

I'd like to see Sound of Thunder. It's based off of a very good short story.
My idea would be to have new children introduced, built up as stars, then brutally eaten by a nest of baby T-Rexes at about the twenty-five minute mark.

Also, there must be aquatic dinosaurs, please.

Regaring the pictures...what the hell is that a picture of? It doesn't look like the standard JP logo.
Also, while the validity of these pictures and this dude's (not oviraptor but the person on the link's site) claim to have the script certainly can't be verified, I do remember reading they brought John Sayles to write a version of the script. I'm not sure if the version photographed is outdated and if that's the case then what's the point? And if it's the one featuring those combat trained dinos I read about then fuck it.
John Sayles and commando dinosaurs are a winning combination.
Looks fake. Why the hell would they place a dilophosaurus in the logo? The T-rex sells it.

Sign Joe Dante as director of that and you'll probably have yourself an instant cult classic.

No complaints here, though I'd still love it if Spielberg himself directed the film. I think he has one more great JP flick left in him.

I agree, but were they to go with the dino commandos story, that's just not Spielberg's forte. That my friends, is the realm of Dante. The real question here is, what is the plot of the current version of the script?

So they want Grant to return, it seems. Probably wouldn't be hard to get Sam Neill back, outside of the Jurassic Park movies and Merlin the guy hasn't seen many good roles. My first reaction from those script pages and remembering old rumors was that they're also hoping to get Nick Van Owen (Vince Vaughn) back, but I guess this Nick Harris mercenary character is the other main lead. Could be a fun character as long as they get someone like Kurt Russell or Mickey Rourke and not some pretty boy, but all in all this seems pretty cliche and substandard, even for the fourth entry in a movie series about dinosaurs running around eating people.

I like the idea of the dinosaurs escaping from the islands and mixing into civilized territory en masse, and the dinosaur hunters of the second movie were never used to their full potential. This movie could be the perfect opportunity to bring the audiences of the world what they always dreamed of: full-on combat between enraged dinos and squads of well-armed, well-trained badass dinosaur hunters.
I still doubt that this project is going anywhere. That's fine with me, because I'm not sure Neill would come back. I don't care for the second movie and I'm not interested in any Jurassic Park movies that don't feature him as the hero. I actually really really liked part three, and I kind of wish there had been more planning involved so they could have filmed a fourth chapter back to back.

Now, I have now idea where the package in the photos came from, but even if it's really from Universal it's no indication that this project is really on track. The 'poster' looks like it was whipped up quickly by a fan or someone in the art department perhaps simply to generate interest in the script - real or othrwise.

The most potential for another chapter, I think, is getting as much of the original cast together for a mainland-based destroy all dinosaurs rampage movie.

Really, these movies at this point are just an excuse to get some really good dinosaur special effects. Just as long as there's plenty of those, the characters don't matter, and, really, have never mattered.

Are there really any characters that would deserve to be brought back from the first movie, other than to connect it to a previous film?

In other news, there's no mention of any of this on the InGen website.
I'll be shocked if Universal has the balls to push forward with the B-movie "dino commandos" plot for a fourth installment.

Sam Neill. Just because he's cool. And I would like Sam Jackson back (maybe they could clone him from the arm or something) and given some big fuck-off gun. And if Tea Leoni returned and got eaten by a raptor, well, I'd be there opening night.
I wouldn't mind having Vince Vaughn's character from LOST WORLD come back, either.

With a top-notch script, I think Vaughn's comedic touch could really add some heart to the film.

HEY OVIRAPTOR! Enough of these dialogue pages!! Let's see some dino action and descriptions!
I'm not the one that has them.

ok, im a huge fan of the films, but come one....something just screams FAKE to me
post #44 of 72
I think we may have run into "Spielberg's 3rd Sequel Curse" on this one guys. If this sucker ends up having a developmental hell period as long as Indy IV has thus far, expect to not see Jurassic Park IV for about another 15 or more years.

Geriatric Park, starring Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum, hitting a theater near you in summer 2025!!!
