No longer am I so disappointed that this didn't happen.

Yah..no shit...I understand that this was just a treatment, but still...I thought it would be impossible to make Ash a pansy, yet they seem to have done just that.

Although, for some reason I did like the Jason scene with the machete in his stump of a hand vs. Ash and his chainsaw....

I'm glad they didnt' do the whole Ash vs Freddy vs Jason deal, the movie would have been stupid. I could not see how this movie would have developed. Glad it's off.

Now rumor that QT is directing a Friday the 13th part 12, hmmm that could go either way. He has some great movies out there and some are my favorite. Now if he keeps to the story line or to the whole jason line then the movie would be great. As long as we don't have Uma Thurman vs Jason I think we are going to be all set. So if QT please watch all the friday the 13th flicks and stay how it's done and don't come up with something new and make the series bad (like halloween 3 did for the series).

You've got to give them credit for pure shutzpah though, the actually treatment seemed more like a labour of love than anything else.... Although it did sound like a truly demented fan fiction rather than an actual movie....

Actually it was plotted better than I thought it would be. I agree that the action could've used a good bit of work, but for a basic outline it wasn't that bad. Had some interesting concepts. Oh well, doesn't really matter anymore.

As for QT doing Friday Part 12, let him go for it. If nothing else it will be fun, and there is no way it could be worse than Jason Goes To Hell. There's also another rumor floating around that New Line is reeling in another odd-choice director to give the Freddy franchise a kick in the ass as well. It will be interesting to see how all of this pans out over the next couple of months.

P.S. - To be honest, I was surprised how well the three franchises slide in together at the start of it, but then again I had completely forgotten about the Necronomicon/Evil Dead Dagger being in the Voorhees basement in Jason Goes To Hell. I had always kind of liked the whole F&J vs. Ash idea. At least it would have taken some of the focus off of dumb, cliched teenage characters played by horrible actors and actresses. Granted we still would have had a good bit of that, but the main focus would have been on Bruce Campbell. Let's face it folks, the cliched-as-hell teens are the ones who won Fvs.J, and they always will. At least in Ash, I had a hero to root for and it might have been fun, even if it still turned out to be shite. Enough of the rant, come on Sam, BRING ON EVIL DEAD IV!!!!

That's my big problem with the treatment, is that the writers felt it necessary to slip teenagers into the mix. I don't think the focus ever needed to be shared in such a way; Ash is a character capable of carrying a movie. That, and the big appeal of the entire enterprise to me was seeing Ash doing (and saying) new things, but just like the recent Army of Darkness comic book, this is all a retread of the movies.

Very much agreed. While the teens and townsfolk are needed as machete/dream fodder, they did not need to have teens as the "heroic" focus. You put Bruce in there being his old Ash self (cock as hell, being an asshole, smarting off everything in sight, and spouting off one liners), and as long as it's entertaining, it would get the audience in the seats in a heartbeat. I agree that the entire appeal for me as well was seeing something other than stupid, whining teens battling Freddy/Jason, and having it be everyone's favorite wise-cracking baffoon Ash instead.

Wow, that was... dire.

Must these things be so cluttered and convoluted?

They're fighting to get the Necronimicon. Why the teens? Why is Ash such a wuss?

Weak.
