IGN has a new interview with one Reginald Fils-Aime, Nintendo's resident name-taking ass kicker.

The highlights:

IGNcube: So we can expect to see something on Mario 128 at E3?

Reggie: Yes.

In terms of GameCube, I think in fairness we at Nintendo haven't done a great job of providing the Internet capability tools to our developers to create games for GameCube. We need to address that for all of our future systems and we're doing that. In terms of Revolution and its wireless capability, stay tuned -- more to come.

-

IGNcube: Will the DS online network serve as an infrastructure for future online Revolution games?

Reggie: About DS wireless Internet play. Yes, we're going to be making announcements about that tomorrow. And there's going to be a lot of activity that we'll be sharing now through E3 and to the end of this year. We'll be launching wireless enabled games on DS this year. Could that framework be compatible with Revolution? Certainly it could.

-

IGNcube: Finally, what is Pokemon XD?

Reggie: Pokemon XD is a brand new Pokemon game for GameCube. It's a true RPG Pokemon. It's isn't a sequel to Collosseum. It's a brand new build. A brand new game that really plays off the RPG aspects. So think of it this way. If you loved Ruby and Sapphire, you're going to love Pokemon XD for GameCube.

They really shouldn't let Iwata speak publicly. The translation and way he speaks make the company sound clueless. Reggie knows how to talk to the American press.

...Legend of Zelda is going to be on GameCube. We're going to launch that this holiday.
In other words, not June 7th. Dammit.

Reggie might kick ass and take names, but he also lies like a fucking rug. He made similar macho boasts last year about the Gamecube's forecast, and 90% of what he said turned out to be hot air.

Nintendo needs to be a whole lot friendlier to 3rd party developers this next generation, if they don't want to go the way of Sega:

Also, Reggie looks a little bit like Rondo Hatton.

Just the working title, alluding to it being a more "proper" sequel to Mario 64 than Sunshine was.

The Revolution will have wi-fi out of the box and be backwards compatible.

Nice.

Also, the new Zelda trailer looks great.

Also, the DS is going online in short order. Animal Crossing and Mario Kart have confirmed online modes.
