I was reading Wired last night and came across a short article on a satellite mapping program of earth, by NASA, called Word Wind. The pictures made me curious to find it on NASA's site, and suffice to say, it's very cool, and it's free, and you can get it right here if you're interested.

So far I've found my house at home and at school, and Area 51 (Lat:37.242, Lon:-115.813), and I've scoped out Tokyo and Hong Kong (although the urban mapping feature is only available for the US).

I have a friend who works for a company that is trying to catalouge all of these images. a lot of money is being spent on photgraphing places that have already been photgraphed.
