Peter Jackson nearly lost the 'Ring' - Page 2

I think the Weinsteins started Miramax to make and showcase independent films, but somewhere along the line that got losts and they saw themselves as Major players, and begun to be obsessed with award, and begun making 100 Million plus films which, really , were pretty mainstream could have been made by any studio in Hollywood.
I think the Weinsteins are not a powerful as some people think. I think there heavy handed tactics made them a lot of enemies in Hollywood, and now that they do not have the deep pockets and clout of The Mouse behind them there will find it a lot more difficult to be a Major Player in Hollywood.

Disney/Miramax got burned by this time and time again.
Weinstien also said in that article that he was the creative force behind Hero and City of God (which is a crock of crap on both parts). He's very good at shrugging off his assholishness to make himself appear the struggling rebel, if it'll yeild a greater interest in him.

There is a certain amount of fun in watching Harvey Weinstein and Michael Einser, two supreme bullshitters, throwing shit at each other.
