SW Prequels Suck Catchall Thread

People love to talk about their problems with the prequels repeatedly, so here's a good place to do it, mainly because I'm sick of threads like the EP3 picture one derailed because someone takes issue with something George did on TPM and decides to write three-thousand words on it. Think of this as a blog, where you can just come in and randomly rail against the prequels for whatever reason. Just don't derail other threads because of it.

Bonus points to anyone who can bitch about something that hasn't been bitched about a thousand times before.

There's a clock wipe in one of the scenes on Coruscant in "Episode II" that really annoyed my friend Sean when we saw it in the theater.
God I hate those fucking Ewoks! I mean what the fuck was George thinking?! Why did...

wait a second...

Too many fucking Gungans.
I can't even get excited enough about the prequels to think of a gripe. Their existence is meaningless to me.

Unfortunately, the premise of this thread incorrectly assumes that an EP3 spoiler thread's only reason for being is for a group of glaze-eyed bovines to engage in a Little Lucas Acheivers circlejerk. Why is it okay to see a new photo from EP3 and say, "Wow, that looks awesome! It looks like something right out of EMPIRE!!!" but it's not okay to say, "Damn, that's looks terrible! It looks like something out of EP1?" Using the Prequels (or the OT, for that matter) as reference is an easy way to discuss our feelings about what we're seeing from EP3. It's a shorthand that all STAR WARS fans can understand, whether they agree with it or not.

I know the new trailer's got the Prequelphiles all hot and bothered (and I dug it too!) but from what I'm hearing, it's going to be a full-on nuclear jamboree of conflicting opinions around here come May 19th.

Right. Cause that's all I ever like to do, right?

Because it happens over and over again and rarely goes any deeper than 'That looks okay, but TPM sucked and Lucas is a hack!' Using something from EP3 as an excuse to go on about EP1 or 2 happens frequently, especially from certain people, and it's just regurgitation after regurgitation. It's one thing to say 'I'm not sure that looks great,' but another to say 'I like that one shot of Tarkin' and then spend the next thirty paragraphs talking about how you didn't like AOTC's bluescreening.

You're tired of people complaining about the Prequels? Okay, fair enough. I'm tired of people complaining about fans who dare even question the quality of Lucas' work. Why try to apply such a narrow set of rules to honest expressions of free speech? And again, I ask, why is it okay to reference the other films in a positive light when discussing EP3 but not a negative one? Because the negative comments don't go deep enough for you? So you think all of the love for Wat Tambor is "deep?" Hey, if I can put up with that nonsense without creating diversionary threads, so can you!
So, now you are bitching and moaning about Charles and others being tired of you constantly bitching and moaning?
Shouldn't all this be saved for the post-release thread?
Still too many fucking Gungans.

I enjoyed Episode 1 and 2 in the theatres a lot. They were visually stunning at the time, and had some solid action. There was even a slight hint of the old Star Wars "feel" somewhere in there, almost as if it was the same George Lucas from A New Hope directing.

On repeat viewings, they completely fall apart, like a big shiny fascade. I can't manage to sit through either of the DVDs anymore. The dialogue and performances are unbearable, and the CG action doesn't hold up.

I will probably see Episode 3 on opening day. All I expect is some good artwork and action. I suppose it would be possible for George to tie it all together and make a truly decent movie, but I wouldn't bet on it.

No more than you're constantly bitching and moaning about people who actually show interest in topics that have nothing to do with your laughable need to be recognized and honored by a tiny handful of twits who cheese their slacks every time a new frame of General Grievous' fourth elbow gets leaked. I've never seen a more needy, self-absorbed, attention-starved bitch in all my life. Well, other than Oprah.

Litmus, your sig is trying to tell you something.

I was thinking of changing it to one of Carl's hilariously hypocritical comments to someone else from a while back, "No need to be a dick." Might be too subtle for you.

Same here. I have been completely shattered and exposed by Litmus' deconstruction of my personality. I think I will be depressed for at least 7 minutes.

I'm tired of that shit too. Which is why I can't help but berate people like RJ every time I see him. I don't think the prequels are very good at all. I just don't like seeing a thread that I really enjoy getting derailed by deep analysis of stuff that we've gone through time and again.

And the Wat stuff is fun. And it's mostly in a different thread.

Seriously, I can tell you already think you're above me and this, so I'll not bother you any longer.

I feel left out.

And you never did answer any of my questions in the "Holy Shit, Clone Wars" thread, Litmus. As a matter of fact, your ONLY answer in that thread, as I remember, had something to do with you condemning the practice of analyzing the posts, almost as a direct response, a sort of a mea-culpa, even. And yet, in this thread there's a very venomous, mean-spirited analysis of Carl that appears to have had some time spent on it. Just as I'm curious about your collections of contradictions in the previous thread, I'm a little curious about the contradiction between saying "I really wish fans would stop trying to psychoanalyze other fans. There is rarely a hidden agenda with how one loves or hates a creative work" in one thread, and then unleashing a very pissed-off and dismissive psychoanalytic post that seemed to have come from nowhere and has GOT to be fueled by some sort of hidden agenda...

Doesn't it ever feel like you're chasing your own tail, man?

Is there maybe a 12 step program we can get Helix into to deal with his Gungan hate? We could all chip in......and then we could all go visit him on family day.

I'll bring the potato salad....someone else needs to be in charge of the cake with the file in it.

My only suggestion is to watch THE FIFTH ELEMENT twelve times in a row - Chris Tucker in that movie is far more annoying than any Gungan.

Even the beloved Captain Tarpals.

So, Ruby Rhodd x 12 = Gungans?

Seems about right.

Watch ATTACK OF THE CLONES and you'll see why. Essentially, he's just a great character design and a goofy one at that, similar to Admiral Ackbar. Ackbar does his sucking noise, Wat adjusts his dials. There's not a lot of positive stuff that people can agree on with the prequels, but Wat is one that comes to mind.
Wat Tambor rules.
I must be frank... that so many people are taking all of the Wat Tambor stuff seriously is quite disconcerting.

Jesus, people know how to sap the fun out of stuff these days.

The internet is serious business.
For real. I thought Star Wars was supposed to be all about fun, but apparently that's just one more thing I was wrong about.

Everybody knows everybody's story by now. No one's going to suddenly post anything that's going to change how Carl Cunningham or Fatboy Roberts or Jason feels about the prequels.
Conversely, none of those fellows has a chance of changing my mind about what I feel are the prequels shortcomings.
I agree with you 100% coffnrock. Everyone knows everyone's story. We should keep the pictures thread on topic more or less with and with the exclusion of how much I think they rock and how much you think they blow. We aren't going to change each other's opinions because they are our own personal opinions. In that thread we should discuss the topics at hand.

Now Carl needs to post his obligatory post stating that he doesn't like them as much as you think!

No, no one will "know the truth." When May comes, we'll all have an opinion on the finished film. That's all. Many will disagree and the debate over the quality of the prequels will continue. But May won't prove one side right or the other wrong.

Yes! I agree with Coffinrock too. leave that thread for pictures, and maybe some wookie jokes.

Create a bitch-about-movie-X thread and you can stake your house on no one doing any bitching.

It's one of life's great ironies.

I mean seriously someone should check the back of his neck.
I'm sure you would find some kind of evidence of alien parasitic infestation.
That being said I must say his symbiont master orginism is laughing all the way to bank.

For example My portion of the investment in the Lucas Estate is;

STAR WARS: Four or Five hundred dollars counting merchandise

ESB: Maybe Two hundred as I had stopped buying the toys by then (collectors please don't take offense)

That Care Bears vs. the Stormtroopers Movie: Twenty or thirty bucks

Episode 1 The Phucked up Menace: Five Bucks (Shame on you George Lucas)

Ep. 2 And Onward it Drones: Five Bucks (Touche' George shame on me)

Ep. 3 Here's more complete dreck but I bet You'll still pay to see it. probably five more bucks.

I now realize why some women return to abusive relationships

Just remember Geoge hundreds of the abused suffer in silence.
But some wait until you're asleep and take pictures of you with their balls dangling over your open mouth.

Sleep tight my little Sym
It's like the mouthbreathing Yin to Rottenjesus' moronic Yang.

I love that scene. That's the best scene in TPM, as far as I'm concerned. He's just so obvious about it.
