Frightfest bookings

Keeping this away from the Chewer meetup thread for obvious reasons:

At last the Frightfest details have been announced.

Trust me, £99 for a weekend pass is GREAT VALUE.

Anyone interested?
Well hell I'm up for it just to see Oldboy on the big screen...

Still not too many new movies there... only a few I haven't seen.

But £99 is good value for such great films.
Those are last years' films.

I wonder if Giles has a six-foot spot on his floor free...

This could be cool. I should have tried and done a film for it though.
I thought the list looked a little old...

Hell I'm still going though...

I'm booking tickets via VISA on the opening day. SERIOUS interests should state so in this thread.

Am I the only one who find that a little threatening

What is the usual sell out time for this type of thing?
Fett, there are six foot floor spots available somewhere. I'll even hoover. i'm still not sold, but i'll gladly meet any of you, with a spare tinny, outside.

It's threatening only in the sense that I have been burned by other (non-Chewer) people in the past. Remember, Frightfest doesn't offer refunds for people who don't turn up.
Well I am almost certainly going... I got 200 quid I was going to splash on my birthday and seen as Frightfest falls on that most hallowed of dates (the 26th if you care) I am going even with a shitty lineup. Film fests are too much fun to miss.

Does anyone have clues as to what will be showing? what are the genre films that are coming up this autumn.

devil's rejects maybe?
sympathy for ms vengeance?

anyway, i doubt the line-up will suck, and as Geoff has said, there'll be plenty of gruesomeness to drink copiously too. it won't dissapoint if you lay down the money and enter into the spirit.

No. The features haven't been announced yet.

I can guarantee there will at least be one UK exclusive, however.

Geoff, I'm going for sure. And I'm paying too. I've managed to blag tickets off the festival organisers in the past but to keep it gong, I gladly pay now.

Count me in. Serious, definite and assuredly. The girlfriend's even planned on going to her parents for the weekend. I kind of know what a couple of the mooted pictures are (the good thing about the fest is, they often have pictures one or t'other of the organizers don't lke, but they play them anyway). This year Alan Jones told me although he didn't like the pictures all that much, "vampires" and "werewolves" may well turn up. Which is all I'll say.

Also, expect a few Tartan films. They're the patron saints of the festival.

The earlier you get tickets, the nearer to the front you get. However, word of warning: it's in the Odeon West End in Leicester Square this yar (not the huge premiere venure, the smaller one) so if you're booking, request as close to the center as possible as side seats are hideous to watch films on there.

Charlie - unfortunately, I'm moved in with the lass now, and we're moving again before July. But God knows where or how big. I'll keep you posted, but it might be better to take up Andrew's offer.

Don't worry about it for now, mate. I'll get things organised closer to June 1st when the weekend passes go on sale.

I might start putting some money to one side (or plotting some big Ebay sales) and head down for this. May even be really flash, and book a hotel. So much depends on the films though, as my horror tastes have narrowed a lot in the past few years.

They'll announce the line-up before tickets go on sale, I guess?

You'll have a cold couple of nights if you don't.

Films schmilms. After chugging down eight pints of Fosters, there's no such thing as a bad movie.

I think some have been announced already, check the link above.

BTW, I'll be driving down so if you want a lift - let me know (that goes for anyone else in the North).

Being scupulously fair, i'm not sure i would open my eyes to see Underworld 2, let alone travel all the way to London. Still, Kate Beckinsale IS hot.
Okay I am starting to get a little antsy about putting down £100 for a film festival when I don't even know what the films shown are going to be.....

Is it always like this or are they going to give us at least a hint of a programme before June 1st
post #19 of 28
Er, £125 I think. The move to the much nicer/airier/comfortable Odeon West End means a hike in price. Worth it though.

Picture's will be announced in June I suspect. They normally are. A good week or two before tickets go on sale on July 1st.
Okay it is about 4 days until I have to lay down money for a ticket and their still ain't any announcements about the programme anyone got an idea of what is being shown?
I'm trying to see if I can get a press pass (or if they even do press passes) as that's about the only way I'll be able to afford the journey and the inevitable overdosing on booze and food.

Is this offer or an offer of its kind still open as I have just realised that the one person who I know who has a working credit card is out of town. If one of you kind people could bag me a ticket I could give them the money on the opening night and would throw in a few pints out of sheer goodwill...

Pay for your Raif's ticket, win a free iPod...Guaranteed!

The Frighfest site confirms Land Of The Dead, Nightwatch, 2001 Maniacs, The Roost (which I've seen and is pretty neat), Evil Aliens, Takashi Shimizu's Marebito, Born To Fight (which is pretty great also) and something called Antibodies.

Nice first half of the bill, with more to follow by August. since there'll be 21 pictures playing in total, the tickets price of £130 is pretty great. I'm heading down this Friday to pick mine so Geoff, don't worry about booking anything for me if it's still your plan to come down.

Dan: email Alan Jones or Greg Day PR (haven't a clue what that address is but they do all the publ for the fest) about press stuff.
Yeah, I e-mailled Greg Day PR. Still waiting to hear back from them.

Don't be a git I'm trying to be serious...although on an unrelated note this situation has made me sign up for a Barclay's credit card...I swore I heard satan himself cackling when I signed the document.

I’m sorry for leaving this so late but I’m going to have to pull out. Up until last month everything was good for the weekend but now, because of possible work commitments and an employer who can’t make his mind up, I may be forced to miss a day. Which makes buying a full pass potentially a waste of time and money. I don’t want to go for one day only so I’m backing out.

Again, apologies for any possible inconvenience everyone. I’m thoroughly peed off right now. Mainly because I know my employer will decide he doesn’t need me on that date. The only recompense is the DVD/book binge I'll embark on with the £300 saved so far...

If you could email onedarkmartian@hotmail.com or leave a post on here I'd really appreciate it. Many thanks,

Brad.
