Did Christmas just come early ???? Wow!!

Uh-oh. Looks like they either got shut down by Lucasfilm or by high bandwidth usage. I'll try to upload the soundtrack to yousendit.com or something like that tomorrow when I'm back on broadband.

I'm going to try to make a midnight showing. Except my theater is always a jerk about it and never decide if they are having a midnight showing until about a week before. I saw the previous 2 the evening of opening day, and I'd really like to see what this midnight thing is all about. For Episode I, the evening show was awesome, with many people in costume (including me, yeah, I'm a geek, but I can kick your ass, so what are you going to do about it? ). However, for Episode II the atomsphere had definately cooled off by the evening. So I figure I'll do the midnight thing and bask in the geek glory that is a new Star Wars movie one final time.

May 19 I'll be awaiting the onslaught of reviews for this film. After reading reviews for AOTC I decided not to catch it in a theatre... after seeing it on DVD, I didn't regret my choice.

If ROTS proves to be a better film, I'll likely check out a matinee on the 20th...

Yes, I'm one of those who trusts the opinions of my favorite movie critics....

I'll be as far away from the Star Wars theater as I can. Don't ge me wrong I want to see this movie. However I am not a Star Wars freak and find the whole franchise overrated. Again, I like the series but I am not going to venture into a theater to see Star Wars until all of the people who dress up like Obi-Wan and Darth Vader have have gotten their fix.

I was just thinking about what Moltisanti said about the different combinations of family that'll go to see ROTS. Today is the 15th anniversary of my dad passing on, he would have been keen to go see this one, he loved Star Wars. Some good memories there.
Grapevine Mills mostly. I'm in Lewisville, and it's a little closer than Tinseltown. But I've darkened the doors of both.

I am betting that Time and Newsweek will have reviews of the film at least a week before the film opens, since Lucas seems confident about the film enough to have press screenings.
I have the 18th off as I will be taking in a midnight show. I have the 19th off as well, hopefully along with Logan, we can gush about all things Star Wars over dinner or something.

I can't wait since AOTC was the absolute best night at the theater-ever. Never have I been in an audience of such enthusiastic energy. It made a Rocky Horror sceening looking like an oil paiting.

I'm sure Sith will beat it to death.

I live in New Zealand, not sure about the time difference here, but if I see a midnight screening here will it be before you guys in the northern hemisphere or after? I'm so confused! Duh.

As a reference, as I type this message its 7pm on Tuesday April 12. ROTS will start on a Thursday here.

And I'm seeing it at the local multiplex in downtown H-Town! (Hamilton). Last time I got a squeaky chair and made squeaking noises during the quiet bits. What fun!

So where will you be on May 19?

Fencing. Wednesday night is fencing night.

I'll go see Star Wars on a Tuesday afternoon two or three weeks later when I can get my seat of choice and don't have to put up with a theatre full of children and their cellular phones and their yakking and their annoying me in general.

watching it early

i manage a theatre, so i will be watching it monday or tuesday afternoon after i put it together.
Taking the day off. Seeing this in the best theater I can. And yes, at the very least, bringing a lightsaber.

I've never been much for Midnight showings, though (Trilogy Tuesday notwithstanding....it ENDED at 1 am)

Nanoblech, we may need to talk. Getting a bunch of Tri-State Area Chewers together for this might not be a bad idea.

Something like that would be fun. It's an idea we can keep in mind. I never did a midnight show, but I considered doing the whole Trilogy Tuesday thing. It would have been a lot of fun, but I tried to be realistic about it... I would have crashed at some point. heh heh...

It would be a hell of a thing if there was a similar night for Star Wars. You could probably watch all 6 Star Wars flicks in the time you need for the 3 LOTRs. The closest thing to some kind of experience like that was seeing The Matrix sequels in Manhattan on their opening nights. X2 was filled with fans too. I rarely see "big" releases on opening night, but when I have it sure has been fun.

Dude, seriously you are missing out. The fun is the energy of the crowd. They really get into it. Fun times ahead for me indeed.

On May 19, I will be at my graduation my graduation.

Before that, though, I'll be at the Hollywood 18 watching ROTS with my best friend.

REally, that day is win-win for me, cause even if ROTS sucks ass, one great thing will still be happening.
I will be in a movie seat fulfilling my legal requirements by seeing the last Star Wars movie with a bunch of other people who were disappointed with the prequels.

For AOTC, we had 32 people in our group that went for the midnight showing. I don't know if it was because I was quasi-hammered or what, but it was one of the most fun experiences I've had in a theatre bar none. We screamed and cheered absolutely everything! My opinions of the PT movies go from one extreme to the other, but I will always have that wild night at the Towne.

This time around, the group is at 57 and counting. There are enough places in town that are showing it that I don't think getting tickets will be a problem. We are going to pre-buy at the end of this month once our list finalizes. I am shooting for one of the two theatres in the city that have digital projectors. Three of us are setting up our cars in the closest parking spots to the theatre (whichever one) at around 8 in the morning. I think everyone is doing a normal day of work, then we are going for about 4 hours early and setting up hibachi's and coolers with booze Supoerbowl-style.

Surprisingly enough, EVERY SINGLE PERSON on our list works in IT to some degree, and out of the 57, there are only three women. But fuck it. All it means is everyone can afford to drink way to much and have a great time. I am excited for the experience and I admit even for the movie at this stage!

Either at the trusty old Hoyt's 12 (now Regal 12) in Connecticut where I saw the last two, somewhere in Savannah, or maybe at the Uptown here in D.C.
I will be there at a midnight showing. They are having a star wars party at the movie theatre. It should be pretty cool.
I will be skipping school with about 15 of my friends, to stand in line for the midnight showing. We are going there at about 7 am, and standing all day and night. For AOTC we got in about the middle of the line, and we were there pretty damn early, so this year we are making sure we are the very first nerds in that fucking line come May 18th.

My AMC 30 started selling tickets yesterday and I spent a fair amount of money buying all our tickets because all my friends were clueless they were being sold and had no way of getting them themselves. They are so beautiful, like paper money! I'm so excited!
I will probably call off work and get in line at a theater in Hollywood THE RIGHT FUCKING THEATER that is, the badass Arclight, and I can't wait. It'll be awesome.

When TPM came out I was with all of my childhood friends. When AOTC came out I was with friends I had made in the Inland Empire [CA]. I now live in Hollywood and unless something happens, will be seeing ROTS alone. If anyone will be grouping at the Arclight that morning or late that evening for a midnight showing, let me know, I wouldn't mind making some friends.

Wow, you Americans sure love your ticket lines! In New Zealand, we don't have lines for tickets, we just walk in and buy the fuckers. However, my stupid local cinema doesn't have allocated seating yet so I'll have to line up for a good hour or so if I want a good seat on the night. But I don't mind that, its kind of fun, but the novelty soon wears off.

Mind you this year I'm hopefully going with a girl who LOVES Star Wars so it should be a blast! Sure beats working.
Oh, no I didn't stand in line for my tickets. I knew when they were going on sale and I swung by and picked some up. I am just standing in line for the movie itself. A geek fanboy dream of mine is to be the very first person in line and in thier seat...I'm nerd like that.

12:01am, Arclight, Dome
Is the DOME digital? I'll be heading to Arclight, maybe with some friends, maybe alone.

EDIT: Well fuck, there goes the midnight showing at Arclight. Sold out.
Still up in the air apparently whether they are going to drag over another DLP to the Dome for Sith so, for right now the only confirmed digital showing(s) are in it's regular house.

The 3:30am showing is still open... I only say that with a straight face because I saw Phantom Menace at the 3am showing so it was a viable option if I hadn't scored tickets to the midnight show this time.
I got my tickets the the midnight showing yesterday. I actually got the first 6 tickets sold for the Columbus, Georgia screening, which is kinda cool.

And y'all are trying not to get excited? The most enjoyable things about Episode I and II were the midnight premieres. No matter how crappy the movie was every single person in my theater was cheering, clapping, yelling, and generally convinced it was the greatest Star Wars movie ever. Yeah, eventually, after the intial euphoria, we all changed our minds but I'd rather have a few minutes of delusional love with a franchise I've followed since I was a small child then just go in and say "Aha! I was right! This sucked!" It very well may suck, hard, but I'll be damned if I'm not going to enjoy it with my friends at 12:05 a.m.
I was going to go see a midnight screening of ROTS but I underestimated the amount of NYC theatres having them so I'll just be seeing it that day.

I'm more bummed about not being able to see it with my ATL friends than not being able to see it "first".
Hey, J.M. PRATER Do you have 1 or 2 extra tix for the midnight show at the Arclight?

I couldn't get mine for midnight though, The Arclight sold to the people lining up at the chinese, 500 tickets before they went on regular sale. That sucks what's the point of being in line overthere when you buy your tix for other theatre.

And they say that if they show ROTS at the chinese, they'll sale the tickets at face value.
Unbeknownst to me until it arrived, my brother found me a Wat Tambor figure on eBay. This little plastic bundle of Techno Union joy will join me at the midnight screening, enjoying the festivities from the cozy confines of my front shirt pocket! It should make things at least ten times more fun. Such is the power of Wat.
I turns out I might be able to go to the midnight showing in Tampa. My new dilemma is;

a) No matter how great the movie is, I'm worried about not enjoying it because it's at midnight.
b) What about digital screens? I'd love to watch it digital on the first viewing, but I'm not sure the theater close to me has digital projectors.

Any advise?
You know, I saw Ep II both traditionally and digitally projected, and I found that screen size made more difference than projection type. The smaller the screen, the better the movie looked. Of course, now the technology seems to have improved, so who knows. At any rate, it's not a huge deal. Digital Ep II wasn't exactly a revelation, it was just kinda neat.

About the midnight thing: drink lotsa caffeine. The energy of the crowd should do the rest. If the movie is actually awesome, that'll help too. I saw Spidey 2 on one hour of sleep and was so amped by the end that I could barely sleep that night.
Just got my tickets for the Arena Grand in Columbus for the 12:01am showing. Still can't fucking wait. They are having a lineup party so I'll have to get there nice and early so I don't miss the fun !!!!!
Already got oursevles a posse's worth of tickets for the Hoyts in Melbourne on Bourke Street.
I hate the new films as much as the next guy, but...like....its Star Wars.
Seen both the newies at the midnight premiere and they were among the best nights of my life.
Went to Ep I with a hot chick coated in PVC, went to Ep II with a bunch of drunken friends, got in a punch up with a Virgin in a Christian Death shirt and got threatened to be removed by Yoda.
Cant wait for the 12:01am, 19th May.
Those few minutes before the film actually starts are about as exciting as that time the asian girl from HI-5 (ozzie kids show) blew me.
Well, I just bought tikets for a saturday 7:30 pm show, so all is well so far. I checked with everybody first and now it seems like 2 people may not be able to make it. d'oh! I'll have to wait and see. Oh well. I'm just happy to know I have tickets and I don't have to worry about it as it gets closer.

This one isn't a digital showing so I'll probably do that the next week in manhattan, at least once.
Does anyone know which theaters have a digital screening?

What the hell? This is the best time to see a movie. Especially an "event" like Star Wars. I have a midnight show to go to as well. It will be crazy cool, trust me. The movie might suck ass, but it will be an experience nonetheless. When everyone there knows what they've gathered together for, it's a blast to be around a crowd like that.
