LAND OF THE DEAD #1

Written by Chris Ryall, art by Gabriel Rodriguez, cover by Chris Bolton.

Presenting a special five-part adaptation of George Romero's long-awaited zombie movie, set years in the future after the end of his Dead trilogy. In Land of the Dead, the walking dead roam an uninhabited wasteland and the living try to lead "normal" lives behind the walls of a fortified city. A new society has been built by a handful of enterprising, ruthless opportunists, who live in the towers of a skyscraper, high above the hard-scrabble existence on the streets below. But outside the city walls, an army of the dead is evolving. Inside, anarchy is on the rise. With the very survival of the city at stake, a group of hardened mercenaries is called into action to protect the living from an army of the dead. Adapted by Chris Ryall (Shaun of the Dead) and Gabriel Rodriguez (CSI: Secret Identity), with a chilling cover by talented newcomer Chris Bolton, as well as a special variant photo cover.

32 pages, $3.99.

After Romero's "Toe Tags" comic book mini-series, I find myself less than enthusiastic about this project.

The cover to the first issue looks like the dvd cover to city of the living dead. Just an observation

Never got to Toe Tags. That bad?

Didn't think much of the DOTD adaptation.

Yeah they both sucked. I quit on TT on like the 4th issue, and I like everything zombie. DOTD was just like the movie but missing a shit load of scenes. I thought it might''ve been cool if they took some liberties with the story or scenes. But it was just a poor translation.

I'll Probably be skipping this one too.

Don't get me wrong there's some good stuff out there. The Goon, Walking Dead, Remains, and I liked NOTLD Barbara's Zombie Chronicles (it shows what happens after Barbara was pulled out of the house. that's what they should have done with DOTD comic.) and Digital Webbing's #21 did a Zombie anthology.

Oh yeah here's a long article and sample page 10 of the LOTD comic:

Toe Tags really sucked hard.
Oh well, i might be able to sell my issues on eBay

I might get the Land of the Dead comic-adaption anyway, hope it´s better than the Dawn of the Dead comic that IDW did.
