ROTS tix selling like hotcakes

The Arclight here in hollywood has sold out the midnight showing and the 8pm showing the next day, more than a month in advance.

I've been surfing other message boards and this movie is already sold out in most large cities. This didn't happen with AOTC as far as I can remember. I think I got my AOTC midnight ticket like a week in advance at the Chinese Theater no problem.

Does this mean ROTS is going to clean up B.O. wise? Not to mention the movie actually may be good.

Oh good, another Star Wars Thread!

I doubt it means the movie is good on the face of it since everyone who's buying tickets doesn't know either way.

And was there some doubt that the movie would kill at the box office?

I didn't say that. I meant that if the movie IS good on top of the increased interest, it could lead to bigger box office than most expected.

The first midnight screening in Omaha sold out, and they've already opened in another screen. I've never seen that happen so far in advance -- not with Return of the King or Attack of the Clones, etc.

Weird. I just got several tickets for the Arclight, opening night with fantastic seats. No problem, aside from the Arclight's website being a little slow and glitchy. The only show that was sold-out (from the ones I searched) was the very first midnight show. I think it's on at least two screens there, right? It's at The Dome (film) and in another theater (digital).

Having seen all of the previous STAR WARS films at either The Chinese or The Egyptian, it's going to be strange but fun finally seeing EP3 at The Dome. I'm just glad we won't have to line up for hours and can just show up a few minutes ahead of time, like civilized rabid STAR WARS freaks. Reserved seating rules!

I thought the Dome was film but someone told me it was digital. Is it film?

It sucks because I can't get my tickets until Friday. I just hope there are some left for the 19th.

I think it just proves that SW fans have poor memories.

Or are eternal optimists. Or are gluttons for punishment. (In my case, I think it's a little of all three.)

Let's see how many tickets it sells at the end of hte first weekend before making any judgements.
That the first midnight show and the opening day is sold out is not suprising at all. Let's see how Joe Average reacts rather then the fanboys before making any judgements.
