Craig Ferguson, Late Late Show host - Thoughts? - Page 3

Last night's Halloween show was pretty much awesome from top to bottom:

Special Guest Alfred Molina as Geoff Peterson.

I've only ever seen clips of this guy, but to my mind he actually manages to be funny sometimes and can make me chuckle quietly, something no other late night host can do. He gets props in my book for that

I was a bit worried with how Molina would go, but the awkwardness actually made the situation even funnier (not least because of Molina's audible albeit stifled laughter).  Needn't have worried that it was going to be a repeat of that godawful Carey Mulligan interview a few weeks back.

Are they going to do Substitute Geoff all week? I thought Dominic Monaghan did well, although the funniest part was his inability to get up to speed on "in your pants".

Meanwhile, Jennifer Tilly was a goddamn trip as always.

I seem to recall at the start of the 7 Nov episode that Craig said Geoff was "going under repairs for the next couple of weeks", so I am assuming it's while Regular Geoff has a break/medical/other personal leave.

Just caught the Jennifer Tilly segment. She's unmitigated awesome.

Stuff I Never Thought I'd Say:

"Man, Larry King really took it to the next level there."

I normally just watch clips here and there from Ferguson, but I swear, if Larry King were Goeff every night, I would not miss a second of this show. So, so great.

Tonight's Geoff will be Lauren Graham.

Hm, Graham was kind of a dud (as was Louie Anderson). Seems they need someone really mouthy to make it work. Tonight: Paula Poundstone. Then Angela Kinsey, Jason Schwartzman and Traxx himself, Shadoe Stevens.

All of them have been kind of meh, except for motherfucking Larry King. The shows format doesn't exactly give them talky time aside from the intro, post monologue commercial segue and twitter/emails. Dangling kangaroo parts and Poppy's reluctance was hilarious. And god damn, Ewan is 40? Where the hell did the chasing around the studio bit come from. Hope they took note, when Shirley Manson comes around she deserves two segments of interview time too. If that's the line up for the rest of the week I'm disappointed they couldn't get Kristen Bell as Geoff and see what she'd do if given the chance.

I was hoping for Bell (or Manson) too. But then I always am.

Fuck Kristin Bell, I want Marshall Bell.

I'm with you on "F*** Kristen Bell". But not the way you think.

A quick heads-up: The Paris episodes are being re-run, starting tonight.

Holy crap, the last bit was so suggestive...loved it.

Promo for Scotland Week is up. Warning: do not attempt to drive or operate heavy machinery after watching Mila Kunis AND Ariel Tweto dance around in kilts.
