Craig Ferguson, Late Late Show host - Thoughts? - Page 2

Yeah, Wavy is hilarious. I love that puppet. Is it for sale somewhere?
So yeah, I think Craig got in over his head last night. It was a neat trick to book John Dancy by way of Claire Danes and he seemed interested in the idea of Moral Philosophy, but he shouldn't have tried to wing it. The Robin Williams interview was aces though.

So Ferguson's Desmond Tutu episode won a Peabody. Do you know when the last time a late night broadcast tv talk show host won? Never. The only thing comparable is Stewart's win in 2000, but Letterman, Carson, Conan...none of those guys ever won. Pretty cool.
It was a really good episode too.
The Cussing Rabbit may be Craig's best creation yet.

Didn't Letterman win a Peabody?

Unfortunate that this thread seems to indicate a general lack of Chewer love for Mr. Ferguson.

For what it's worth, I would greatly recommend following him on Twitter. Good stuff.

Furguson is aces. His standup special is actually pretty good (the opening bit goes a bit long but once he moves on he doesn't stop)
His man-crush on David Boreanaz alone cracks me up. I dig the cat.

Ferguson is awesome, a genuinely thoughtful, engaging host. He's hosting Shark Week this year, too.

I also love that he gave props to Tom Snyder when he had that episode-long interview.
I love him for giving us Michael Caine in Space.
Jean-Michel Cousteau tonight. He's been hilariously rude and insulting in previous appearances so this should be good.

And props to James Dyson for playing along last night.
He's been doing it for a couple of weeks, but every time Secretariat comes in and they Dance stupidly, i just lose it.
Honestly Craig, you're just beating a dead horse at this point.

And it's AWESOME.

Ferguson is pretty damned funny and I'm going to feel a bit sad to leave him behind when Conan returns.

Allison Brie on Friday's show was amazing. She caused a ratings spike....in my pants.
I like how they expanded on the horse gag with this week's Danny deVito interview.

Both Allison Brie and Brie Larson were terrific this week. Larson in particular came across as very smart and quick-witted. The Michael Caine interview was a bit of a muddle, but still worth it.

Tonight's interview with Cornel West was fantastic.

The DR Who episode was simply amazing.

This intro song was originally meant to start the episode, but they couldn't clear the rights.

I love Conan, but Ferguson is the best in the business. With other shows you usually check out before the interviews if the guests don't seem interesting. Never with Ferguson.

That was pretty great.

ETA heh, move along
That's why Craig's just better than everyone else.

Glorious.

I wish Kristen Bell was on every night.

And who would have guessed that Katie Couric would be the first guest who actually knew how to play a Mouth Organ?

Tonight's ep: greatest 'Has There Been a Murder' cameo yet.

So, this has been playing down here since the beginning of the year. and I gotta say, I'm madly and desperately in love with Ferguson and his brilliantly random comic anarchy. Best giggle before I head off to bed I could hope for.

Seriously tho, how many late night hosts would go so far as to essentially humiliate their big movie star guest - and completely get away with it?

Colbert too. Twice.

Catherine Deneuve tonight. I predict epicness. Even if it's just epic awkwardness.

He let her touch the mug.

It's always just a little bit special when Ferguson gets a fellow Scotsman on the show.

To wit; he and Kevin McKidd were hilarious - I always respect a guest that chooses the awkward pause over the mouth organ (unless they can play of course)

If you didn't watch the beginning of last nights show, opening with Kronos King of the Monkey Planet, and giggle yourself silly, then I just don't get what you'd find funny.

...and then we get a night like last nights show with Bob Geldof where Craig reminds the world he's not just incredibly funny, he's a profoundly erudite intellectual as well and fascinating to listen to when he opens up his brain to the audience.

He began the interview more than a little starstruck (and Geldof was absolutely basking in it) but when they started talking about parenting and the end of the industrial age things really ramped up.

Fridays monologue was one of Craigs funniest in a long while, he just let fly - obviously just in an extra cheeky mood. I laughed a lot.

Just leaving these here for whoever wants them...

WHO'S THAT AT THE DOOR?!?!?!

Here's another moment of casual comedic gold from Fergy and Geoff the other night...

...seriously, I can't imagine people who like a giggle before bed not making this a must watch ritual every weeknight.

"YOU KNOW THAT ARM DOESN'T WORK!"

Craig announced last night that he'll be doing a week of shows from Paris, France, airing in August. Geoff is going with him.

And so is Kristen Bell.

Are we not jazzed?

Yep. Cannot wait. :)

I have to say, Fergy and Josh Thompson comedic chemistry has become epic lately. It's completely opened up the dynamic giving Ferguson someone so funny to bounce off. I've absolutely lost it a few times the last couple of weeks.

Michael Caine In Space In Paris...

,,,tears.

Man, this is what late-night was meant to be.

Favorite bit so far is the Arthur interview, when they reveal that Bell is just sitting there in the back through the whole thing.

Caaaaaareful Icarus...

Geoff's new closed-mouth laugh is really unsettling.

His 'contact lenses' really creeped me out as well.

I like to wait whole months before commenting on things. Labour Day episode was awesome. Drunk Geoff Peterson, chilled out Julie Chenn, and slow ponderous Secretariat...

Notes:

- Holy crap Evangeline Lily looked great.
- Shirley Manson's visits should be bi-monthly, maybe have her and Kristen Bell on the same night.
- Michelle Monaghan was on speed or something.
- Claire Danes has a cute little snort; but is dangerously approaching Cameron Diaz territory.
- Don't remember anything about Judy Greer's visit, but who cares it's Judy Greer.
- Um, I think I watch this only for the female guests - but the Gerard Butler interview was funny.
- Finally, someone else out there is mining Wilfred Brimley's Diabeetus for lols too...

Two of them have some history, wish the interview went on a little bit more longer.

I knew they'd both done Rocky Horror but I didn't know it was the same production.

Wonder if it was the plan all along to promote the UK Free Agents, given that the US version just got canceled?

Seriously, I feel like Craig is friends with basically all my favorite people.

I could care less about any other late night show, but I always make sure that I at least keep up with the interviews on Ferguson. So, so great.
