Stephen King books that haven´t been filmed - Page 2

Did anyone ever make a film out of "Jerusalem's Lot" from the Nightshift collection? It's a Lovecraft type story with no relation to Salem's Lot. Always thought that would make a kick ass film with Del Toro or QT at the helm.

As I remember, that short story became the novel 'Salem's Lot' which ended up as a tv-movie

The only thing the two stories share is the name of the town. Or you could see it as another example of King's hazy geography as destiny, like Castle Rock.

Just wanted to toss out my love for JERUSALEM'S LOT. One of the best darn King stories of all time, IMHO. I listened to the audiobook version, initially, and I still get creeped out just thinking about it. The setting, the atmosphere, it all just puts a heavy feeling of dread in your stomach. I think you could film the novella essentially as is, page for page, and as long as you stuck with slow burn suspense and didn't try to ramp it up to make it more "exciting" (and keep big reveals like the basement scene quick and poorly lit), you'd have one of the best horror movies of all time

EDIT: CYLON BABY: I was thinking of it as a Del Torro film as well, but I'd hope he'd hold back on showing the 'monsters', such as they are. Other than the SPOILERS: worm at the end, stuff like the basement zombies should be shown as little as possible, a quick shot and then have him run back up the stairs

As many people have said "The Long Walk" and a proper adaptation of "The Running Man"

I actually liked Silver Bullet but then I have a soft spot for Everett McGill (sp?)

Always liked that story he did about the kid that created the computer for his Uncle that could alter reality (although obviously not enough to remember the goddamned title) which I think was in Skeleton Crew.  It always chilled me that the guy just deleted his son and later his wife from existence.

"Word Processor of the Gods".   I think it was adapted for a Tales From The Darkside way back when.

Nice to see so many fans of 'The Long Walk'.  I honestly think it would be a very, very punishing experience to watch as a film, though.

Always thought a director like David Fincher could turn the short story Quitters Inc. into a pretty brilliant feature film. Always loved that line, "I'm a pragmatist. When a romantic tries to save the world and fails, everyone loves them, when a pragmatist tries a succeeds, everyone hates them".

Great line.  I thought the version of this in Cat's Eye, with James Woods, was pretty great.

Too lazy to create a new thread for it at the moment, but King has announced what his next novel after Dr. Sleep (the Shining sequel) will be:  Joyland.  It's about a serial killer loose in an amusement park and will apparently be his own take on the slasher genre to a certain extent.  Sounds fun!  Anyway, I won't be too surprised if the film rights are snatched up rather quickly........same goes for Dr. Sleep.

Which reminds me that I still need to pick up the new Dark Tower book that just came out!
