Why and the hell cant Potter get this treatment, I mean I was expecting some nice stuff of this disc but it goes more indepth than the recent Heat rerelease

Oh yeah Rick Heinricks rocks, best use of forced perspective ever

Anybody else pick it up? thoughts?

and the meus are based on the simply brilliant credits, judging by the Madagascar trailers and ensuing Shreks this will be the best Dreamworks animation for quite sometime

I have NO idea what you just said. Is Potter = Harry Potter?

No, it's Monica Potter. The SE for HEAD OVER HEELS is total shit.

She's the blond Julia Roberts.

Back on topic, I've just finally seen the film and I regret not catching it on the big screen. This captures what I had hoped the Potter series would be. I'm also intrigued by the books, which I've heard are very playful with language and more intellectually stimulating than one would expect. I only rented the single-disc version of the movie but I'm considering purchasing the special edition since I liked it so much.

Good to hear a positive reaction, but I'll probably be checking the web for some full reviews as well.

The second disc does have some great making-of stuff on there. I especially liked they included the sort of mourning process involved when you strike a set. All those beautiful places, hacked up with a chainsaw. I can't recall - did this win any technical awards last year?

I think I resisted seeing this in theaters because I had meant to read the books first. After hearing good things about the movie and DVD (and my wife loved the books), I'm considering a blind buy.

Hmmm tough to say. Watch first or read first?
I'm tempted to say it doesn't matter. But then I've never been a hardcore purist when it comes to adaptations.

I read the first book a while back and have a few others in my large reading pile, but I found that the changes from the book didn't really detract from the film at all. It's a shame more people will watch this on small tvs instead of the big screen (it's incredibly stunning visually, I especially loved the closing credit animation.. fantastic) but it's a fun and smart movie. I sat in a theatre chock full of 10 year olds (or there abouts) and they freaking loved it.

I guess I figured I could breeze through them over a quick weekend. I ended up just putting them off, since that quick weekend never really came along.

it won best make up at the oscars, nominated for score and something else as well

the jim carrey make up test on the first disc are simply brilliant

the 2 disc version is worth the extra dosh, very nice and indepth docs, and after watching this beutiful movie you definetly want to know more about it

i would say movie first, these books are quite slim, and not much is missing due thier size, just reorderd events in the movie

Yes, the score is fantastic. The prospect of a sequel seems unlikely it seems but if they ever did one I'd be sure to catch it in the theater. If not, I consider the fisrt to be quite a good film on its own.
