So I pulled out Conan the Barbarian...

I spent an hour trying to figure out what happened to my surround sound system tillI actually researchd and found out...its a fucking 2.0 mono mix!?!?!

I was so fucking pissed. Out of all the DVDs I own (i bought conan: Collector's edition before i had a surround sound system) I imagined hearing that score would be a perfect showcase for a sound system. But I get a fucking mono mix?

Anyway I just wanted to vent. But as i was researching the dvd's features to make sure I wasn't crazy, I came across this gem of a review from a MEGa reviewer...haha, I hate myself.

conan the barbarian is also my penis' nickname, it loves to crush its enemies, see them driven before him, and to hear the lamentation of the women.

You guys sure know how to trample on a perfectly good joke.

Let me just give props to billz for catching my original joke in the thread title.

I would also like to thank everyone including myself for now killing the joke.

Also, Conan the destroyer is a pitiful movie. It started out decent enough, but once they got to that ice castle and that shape shifting wizard part, it all fell apart. Also, I really would have wished Wilt Chamberlain's "Boombata" character put up a better fight against the C man.

What an awesome movie, it's good to know what the Legend of Zelda game trailers got their music from...

If this movie was mixed in a sewer pipe it would still kick every ass around. "WHAT IS BEST IN LIFE?"

I think i'll pick this up on DVD tommorow, just kicked ass, the blades look like they really connect when they fight also, and the opening raid on his village and the fate of his parents are horrible......

Also have to love JEJ and his gratuitous snake morph, it's like Master of the Flying Guillotine where the masters head starts swivelling around in an unexplained fashion.......

If you are going to buy Conan and you have a multi-region player you probably want to get the new R4 2-DVD SE.

It has the same transfer as the R1 it sounds like, but it has a 5.1 default track with what sounds like a dts track available.

Whoops, too late....

Anyways I watched C, The Destroyer....the sidekick sucked, the mirror scene was like some kind of Zelda boss fight, overall I enjoyed it but it is penauts compared to the first.

How many decades until #3 is made.....

What the fuck? Why the hell did the US twin movie set get the shitty 2.0? I bought this DVD set as well, and watched with my dad on his home theater setup. Both of us wondered the same thing, the sound was just so... flat. We checked it out and sure enough. 2.0. Damn the man!

There are plusses and minuses to having the 2.0 track.

One one hand it's the original mix - the original mix is almost always preferable to a poorly mixed 5.1 track.

On the other hand, the R4 sounds like the 5.1 and dts tracks are pretty decent.
