Important and sexually alluring people like Dave Davis, and my good self, think it's great fun. That's really all you need to know.

Yeah it is alotta fun but some times it gets kinda repetitive and a lil complicated towards the end but mostly it's pretty cool. Just not the instant classic some people make it out to be. Im glad it's getting a theatrical run over here. Of course if you go region free............

Indeed. I'm constantly amazed how many people HATED this movie, but I'll stand on record (Steve Miller Band's Greatest Hits) as saying I dug it quite a bit, good fun flick. It's definitely cheap (made for less than $1 million US) and filled with amateur actors, but so is a lot of other indie horror from years ago that's now beloved.

Here in the US, it has not happened yet (if billylove is from the US understandable if not for shame on him LOL) I can't wait for this movie to hit the US and see all the rave about it.

For me, the ending is what lifted it from goofy diversion into something more promising. It's a fun twist that makes it a little bit more ambitious than the usual cheap zombie movie.

But I don't think anyone has claimed it's an instant classic. At most I've seen people saying it's a fun movie that makes a lot out of a little. The sheer hatred it has received from some quarters, in a genre where people will actually take time to defend Freddy vs Jason as "fun", seems way out of proportion to what the movie is, and what it set out to achieve.

The world is full of cheap, amateur horror films. This is one with spark and a sly wit. If we can't forgive a few rough edges for that, then I worry about the future of the genre.

Well excuse me maybe I went a little overboard with the "instant classic" comment but it is getting alot more praise then it should. Yes it is fun but that is all it is. And it has more than a few rough edges lets be honest. First of all I think most people hated the deputy and not just for his character. He spent the majority of the the film screaming incoherent mostly unfunny lines(well except for the whole eating parents line). Now about the plot. I do agree with you that it's slightly above average for what it tried to do. Im glad they tried to add something new to the zombie genre however it was a confusing and not in a good way. Not to mention they took Marions guns away from him three times. Now you would think at some point they would either trust him that he knows what hes doing or he would stop giving his fucking guns up. I know this makes it seem like I hated the movie but I don't I enjoyed it very much I thought it was fun. The things I listed above is what kept the movie from being great.

Dan, I agree with you on most things, but not on this...The 'film' smacks of a showreel with superb FX on a budget of nothing...something the brothers would use to get them a bona fide job. I doesn't feel like I felt with Peter Jackson's Bad Taste or Ramie's Evil Dead...more a set of SFX set-pieces strung together by the most tenuous of plot...

I didn't like it as a film...loved it as a SFX showcase.

But then, I'm STILL waiting for the next 'Eraserhead' to rear it's mind-fucking...er...'head'.

Feel free to take the piss.
