Hey Everyone, I was just wondering what everyones Top 10 Horror films are? However, for your list you cannot include anything Post-Scream or Scream itself. I was tempted to say nothing from the 90's but that might be unfair on one or two, so yeah...fire away!

Cheers.

What kind of a proviso is that? That means no The Others, which is the best Gothic horror film in years...

Sucks to your limitations, my faves are as follows (in no particular order):

The Others

Dawn of the Dead (Romero)

The Shining

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (Siegel)

The Thing (Carpenter)

Videodrome

Les Yeux Sans Visage

Audition

Scanners

Scream 3 (only joking)

Can Irreversible count? It was pretty horrific in places....

bah! Just ignore my provisions then. :P

Yeah, Irreversible is horrific...but it doesn't count.

The reason for the condition is because I want to cut out any "ironic" bullshit with teens and jump scares. Jump scares are not proper horror, just a cheap thrill. I know there were horrors with jump scares for many years before but they also had bags of atmosphere filled with dread, where as now they don't. Great list by the way!

Anyway, keep that in mind people. Let's go!

Shouldn't this thread be titled "Top Ten Horror Films that I Agree With, so Please Don't Bother Posting Anyway"?

The Ninth Configuration, what a top film. Horror though? I'd say, hmm, I don't know actually, it's a strange film... cerebral sci-fi?

Since I can't have Irreversible, I'll go with The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (Hooper). I don't care how shlocky or over-copied that film is, it's fantastic.

Ninth Configuration is the I Heart Huckabees of it's time.

No, just more of a chance to un-earth some hidden gems, as well as cut out all the bullshit that's been pumped out the last decade.

Chill out... :@@:

But it would get a no-star rating from me simply for the scene where Jude Law breastfeeds Jason Schwartzman. Yuck.

Besides, it doesn't have Stacy Keach, Scott Wilson, the late Jason Miller, the late Ed Flanders, the late Joe Spinell, Moses Gunn, Robert Loggia, Tom Atkins, Steve Sandor and Richard Lynch. Or a character who stages Shakespeare with dogs. Or that incredible bar-room fight scene.
Thumbs Up
