Just take it to Troublemaker Studios. I'm sure Robert Rodriguez would produce that sequel. In 3D, no less.

But where would they fit in Sharkboy?

I thought that was a remarkably restrained Devin news piece, given that it involves Goonies cosplay.

It was quite restrained. I bet he'll only get around 1000 pieces of hate mail for this one.

Well the GROWING UP GOONIE fan report pretty much covered everything.

A biased news reporter?

WHATEVER!!!!!

What a Super Retarded Idea. The original is great, but there is absolutely NO reason to go back to these characters. And I can't believe there are conventions for this, um... "franchise?"

During the 80's, at least in the inner city I grew up in, there were two types of kids. You were either a GOONIES' kid or a GHOSTBUSTERS' kid. I wore my green gang colors for the Slimer Squad. A lot has changed since then but I still often think of the friends I lost on those blood drenched playgrounds.

There is an unhealthy obsession for The Goonies. I live in Oregon and the film was shot in a town here called Astoria. They are having some huge celebration in Astoria to celebrate the twentieth anniversary on the film. People are coming from all over the world just to see the god damned house where most of the film took place. There's been news stories in the paper or on TV almsot everyday for the past couple of weeks. I don't get any of it.

The greatness of this instantly forgettable trifle escapes me. Would anyone care to enlighten? And why is it there's never a peep about the emminently better and more sequel ready GREMLINS franchise, yet every week I hear delusional Sean Astin saying Spielberg actually wants this to happen?

I could apply this to: Firefly, Start Trek, Star Wars, Buffy, etc.

Fandom is fuxored.

Goonies is a great little pulp adventure flick, although it is not one that needs a sequal 20 years later.
And why is Chunk pimping for a role i thought he gave up acting and became a lawer?

But... Goonies never say die...

He did, an entertainment lawyer in Hollywood. But I'm sure even Data gets bored being on the other side of the camera. These Goonies need their day in the sun. Besides, what's Josh Brolin got going on that he can't cancel? I say go for it. Damn the naysayers.

It really does depend on how they do it. I dont want to see the older gooines helping a new generation or some cliche like that. Id like to see the old gang meeting up for whatever reason working together as adults but still being...well gooines. Outsiders, people the townsfolk look down on a little, I want to see them older but still incompetent.

Well thats how I would do it anyway

...especially since Firefly is getting a movie, Star Wars is apparently getting 2 TV series, and Biffy and Star Trek way outstayed their welcome.

Now, ANGEL, on the other hand.....

I love the movie, but I think a great deal of that love has to do with how old I was when it was released. I think it represented the perfect fantasy for me, and for many of my friends at the time. Rainy afternoons, gadgets, treasure maps, booby-traps, adolecent sex-teasing, and pirate ships. And mounted by Donner's sure hand it never takes itself TOO seriously, but doesn't play as parody either. I do remember a bunch of us pulled out our old running shoes and converted them to (working) slick-shoes.

Watching it now, parts of it don't hold up especially well, but the interaction between the kids is genuine (something you hardly see with kid actors today) and fun to watch.

I rewatched the goonies with my cousin (who also loved the movie as a kid) and my uncle and aunt. Everyone loved the movie. It is the epitome of a family film because it doesn't talk down to the audience. It plays everything straight with a touch of fantasy.

One of the best movies ever made in my opinion.
