I'll just copy from my page:

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Witness, Paramount Home Entertainment will be releaseing a special DVD edition on August 23rd. Extras will include a five part documentary entitled Between Two Worlds: The Making of Witness, a single deleted scene, the theatrical trailer and three TV spots.
Such a great movie and I am glad to see they are putting some decent extras on this. You can pre-order at Amazon for only $13.99 and man is that a bargain.

I love this movie! It's so Quotable!

"Throw me the Plow, I'll throw you the churn!"

"Raising crops ain't like dustin' crops, boy!"

"Get off my FARM."

oh cute Daryl

Actually there was a couple of memorable lines in this movie that are funny:

"ELI - Didn't you hear me, Book? Pull! You never had your hands on a teat before?
BOOK - Not one this big."

"Lady, if you take my picture, I'll rip your brassiere off and strangle you with it."

Great film that only seems to get better on repeat viewings.

I look forward to checking this one out.

It appears Paramount is going ape this August:

Witness SE
Tommy Boy SE
Clueless SE
The Truman Show SE
Sahara SE

I'd love to finally see Witness in widescreen.

"Vake off. Time for da milking."
"Don't put em' in the peaches."
"Wacking. I'm hell at wacking."

This is awesome. Save for the cheesy synth score, I've always dug this film and hope to finally buy the sucker. And yes, Daywalker it does get better with repeated viewings.

"It's my way!"

True story:

Once upon a time, way back in the 1980's, a much younger version of me was riding through Lancaster County, PA in the back of the family station wagon. Trips up to Lancaster through Amish country were quite common and I was enjoying scenery and probably bitching about how long the drive was taking. All of a sudden, we drive up to an intersection that we'd driven up to several times before only this time we find ourselves more or less in the middle of a film set. Cameras, trucks, crew, lights were all over the place and there was a nice little bustle even though the scene was obviously small. It seemed that most of the attention was focused on a payphone in front of a little store; so of course that's where my eyes were drawn.

"Look Mom! It's Indiana Jones*!"

"No it's not."

"It is! Look, it's Indiana Jones"

"No it's not, shut up!"

Then we pulled through the little 4-way stop and continued on our way.

Fast forward 9 months or so and Witness was released in theaters. After seeing it my only comment at the time was: "See, I told you it was Indiana Jones."

So next time you watch Witness and you get to the scene when Book goes to town for the first time to call his partner, I'm about 20 feet away trying to convince the occupants of a station wagon that the man at the phone is in fact Indiana Jones.

*I may have actually said "Look, it's HAN SOLO" but I really don't remember. It was one or the other.

I wonder if this new DVD will restore a couple lines of voice over missing from the last DVD: "Who else knows about this?" / "Only me and you." If that's taken care of, or if it's a noticably-improved transfer, I'll buy this new disc. Otherwise, I'm not very impressed with the extras Paramount usually put on their DVDs.

does the "single deleted scene" contain more Kelly McNicetits?

Is the current DVD anamorphic? I'm assuming that this new one is going to have an anamorphic transfer which in case I'll be very glad that I've held off buying the old disc. Ditto for that Truman Show SE.

I watched this last night (it is anamorphic). Hadn't seen it in ages, but it really is a top notch thriller/love story.

I read the book based on the screenplay along time ago. If I remember right, there were alot more dialog between Rachel and Book's sister, and the scene when Book goes to the bar to have Samual ID the suspect was a bit longer.
