That reminds me of the Jazz guitarist Pat Martino, who suffered a brain aneurysm, he had to relearn everything as he suffered memory loss.

I also picked up Beck-Ola by the Jeff Beck Group, awesome stuff.

Wow! That was great! Could someone please recommend Prince songs or albums with a similar sound? I'm aware it's not one of his songs, I'd like some Prince where the guitar is the focus.

Any fans of Chet Atkins here?

I've been listening to a greatest hits CD and he really had such a wonderful style and way of playing, he really could play anything.

Yeah, he's great.

You'd really love Doc Watson, Dragon.

I'm loving on his work he did with Plant on "Walking Into Clarksdale". His playing there, while a little unimaginative, is still better than most of the shit out there these days, IMO. I'm also enjoying Duane Denison's work with his new band USSA.

Also, I think the mad riffing on Death Magnetic should get some props.

I love Chet's playing. Not always down with his arrangements, but those weren't always of his choosing.

My avatars this year will concentrate on my favorite guitarists, so I'll be interested to see what you guys think of my selections as the year progresses. Some will be obvious, but some won't; I know I'm gonna fit Buck Dharma in there somewhere, for instance.

First time I saw BOC, the price of admission was two cans of food for a local charity group.

And I bet that they put on a GREAT show for you, too. I saw them a few years ago at the Medina Ball Room and they kicked major ass. From what I understand, they always bring their A game, regardless of the size of the venue.

Saw them a few times, and yeah they were usually fun. For sure, one of the loudest shows I ever saw was when I had second-row floor seats for Ted Nugent-BOC-Aerosmith.

ENVIOUS. I've seen all 3 on separate occasions (the Nuge with Damn Yankees) and they definitely know how to put on a show.

I spent about 15 years in "the biz", first in radio, then working for some of the major record labels, so I actually saw more shows than would be good for anyone.

I'm a fan of Doc Watson as well, amazing that someone who's blind can play guitar like that, I have a compilation disc where he plays this live instrumental with his son, it's absolutely amazing, on the disc it's called 'Doc's Guitar' but Doc doesn't actually give it a name.
