While some of us await the Spielberg version of War of the Worlds to hit our screens, two other productions are now on sale on DVD to cash in on the WOTW publicity machine.
One is from a company called Asylum, it's also set in modern day America and stars C.Thomas Howell and Jake Busey.
The other is from a company called Pendragon Pictures, set in 19th century England (but filmed in Washington state), and it is this version that is causing a real stink online.
Why?
The director/producer Timothy Hines has had this project in development for several years now, and promised WOTW fans, who wanted to see a faithful version of the original book, that the FX would be state-of-the-art, that the budget would be in the region of $40 million, and that the lead actor was the next Al Pacino.
Now the cat is out of the bag - on sale at Walmart, Amazon and E-Bay.
And the fans are FUMING!
