Make no beans about it. The next few weeks are vital to the continued success of the genre as far as Hollywood is concerned. Romero is the big gun and if he don’t pull em in of the streets than I don’t know who is. Us hardcore, blood and guts, stick it to the system fans have been clamoring for Hollywood to give GAR his shot and here it is. Time for us to put our money were our mouths are. Get off your lazy Asses and get to the theatres.
Why are the next few weeks vital? You offer no explanation for such a grand declaration.
"Make no beans about it"? What the hell does that even mean?
Why do horror fans have "lazy asses"? You're all over the board here, Dave.
Also, how can you go on about the summer horror releases and Hollywood without touching on High Tension or Dark Water (the most Hollywood-centric horror flick of all the summer releases)? Why even mention War of The Worlds? That's in a completely different league divorced from horror. It's a mainstream blockbuster first, sci-fi flick second. Horror third, maybe.

A review of the fan re-mix of Night of The Living Dead.

"Usually this ends up with some horrible monstrosity piece of crap (think Night 30th Anniversary Edition) but this time around the film got into the hands of someone who not only respects Romero’s work but who is also a very talented editor.
Upon viewing the disc the first thing you notice is that the opening is completely different. Dean has shot a new opening that explains the space probe that Romero hints at in his film."
Some respect for Romero's work. George has been very vocal about regretting his decision to shoe-horn in the satellite origin. So much he completely dropped it in his script for the Savini remake. Nice to see this guy has stripped the eerie mystery away with a shot of a spaceship. Just what this simple little flick needs.

Keep those thoughts comin'.

Yeah this doesn't make any sense. Hollywood has been making money off of horror movies without Romero for years. Romero has never been a "hollywood guy", so why would hollywood consider him a BIG GUN? This is his first studio zombie movie, and they gave the unknown Zack Snyder twice as much money for the DOTD remake.

And besides, there's no way LOTD will be a failure.

Hadn't you heard? The niche market is where the REAL money is.

Jesus H Christ.
I am getting sick of these fanboy wannabes who think they can "improve" on somebody else's film.
It was bad enough with just reediting, but now the morons are shooting new sequences to insert.
I hated "Phantom Menace" but thought the "Phantom Edit" was stupid. It might be a turd, but it's Lucas's turd and he has a right to distribute it and have it seen the way he wants to.
But now that some idiot is shooting new footage to "Improve" a film I really care about, it's gone into the Twlight zone of silliness.
Yeah, this guy is going to "improve" the film the same way the Joker "improved" the paintings in the Tim Burton "Batman".
And he is not much of a Romero fan if he was not aware that Romero regrets putting in at the last minute the "explanation" of the Zombie phenemenon.

I always gathered that there was a different explanation for each movie (Night-Day I mean), because nobody really knows what's going on. Night had the space probe, Dawn had the "No more room in hell" line, and Day seemed to be more on the scientific explanations of the zombies. So I'm not sure why Romero regrets putting that in there, as it always seemed like people were just speculating, like we always do when something crazy happens.
About the big movies, I think why he didn't include Dark Water is because it's a remake, and (I think) the point was that these original movies...wait, he said War of the Worlds. Never mind, that doesn't make sense. What the fuck were you talking about Dave? Anyway, I plan on seeing them all anyway, even though I have a feeling Dark Water is going to blow hard.
