Seriously, though - I stopped playing massive amounts of video games after Final Fantasy X came out. It was the first time I ever paid attention to the game timer. After a few weeks of playing it - I saw that I had wasted 2 weeks of my life. Not 9 to 5 business hour weeks - but 2 weeks straight. I vowed that I would never again play those massive RPGs again (unless it's Zelda - I'll always give it up for Zelda). Instead I'll compromise and play quick arcade games every now and then. I watch my fiancee's eight year old son play those games with his eyes glazed over and his mouth hanging open like a zombie. Maybe I'm maturing but consider most of those games "Timesucks". I mean, how many days of your life are gone because of those games?

I have let myself get sucked in by epic RPG's on more than one occasion. Lately though, I've been spending less time playing. I find that if I only get to play an hour or two every couple of days or so, I enjoy it that much more. It's just a good way to wind down after a long work week. Now, if I have a day off with nothing to do, I have no problem spending a day on a FF game or in WoW or some other such "timesuck". It's also nice to get a game that you don't have to spend multiple hours at a time on in order to get anything out of it. For example, a couple weeks ago, I was playing one game of my MLB 2005 season a night right before I went to bed. Again, it's a nice way to wind down after working all day/week.
