Mallrats X - September 20th

First there was "Clerks X", now comes the inevitable money-making idea of "Mallrats X" (from DavisDVD.com):

Universal Studios has just announced Mallrats X: 10th Anniversary Extended Edition for release on September 20th. The disc will include both the original theatrical edition and a new "The Cut That Should Never Have Been" extended version of the film featuring deleted and extended scenes worked back in, along with a new score. Hopefully I'll see the sailboat this time.

Early word on extras includes an all-new audio commentary with cast & crew, a new documentary, 10th anniversary Q&A held at the ArcLight Theater (with Kevin Smith, producers Scott Mosier and Jim Jacks, DP Dave Klein and actors Jeremy London, Jason Lee, Renee Humphrey, Ethan Suplee and Jason Mewes), an eight minute blooper/outtakes reel, MTV's Premiere Party Special, a production archive (featuring press archives, storyboards and every screenplay draft) and all the bonus materials from the original DVD release. Retail will be $26.98. Thanks to Tyler for the assist!
Mallrats is probably my #1 or #2 favorite KS movie, but I don't know if I'll shell out another $24 for another copy that looks like it has the same stuff on it as the original (save for the new commentary). Thank goodness for Blockbuster giving me credit for the old one so I can use it on the new one. I guess.

The Mallrats commentary is one of my favorite commentaries ever. Affleck is even funny in it. Bring on the next one.

Btw, this is my first post. Longtime lurker, etc. So hello all.

Afleck is funny in all of his commentaries... I swear, I almost want him to do a MST3K on almost every movie, as an alternate commentary track. There you go, an MST3k movie with Ben as the lead.... the evil scientist could be Jennifer Garner-Afleck!

Wasn't the commentary on that DVD the one where you could toggle back and forth from the movie and then be able to see them filiming the commentary session?

Yeah, I think it was a 2nd Angle on the DVD or something like that. And it is just about as entertaining as the movie itself.

Yeah - I might have to pick this up since I only rented that and have Mallrats on old fashioned VHS

No new commentary. The complete rundown is here:

Old one's been out of print for about a year, I think.

Mallrats is my favorite Smith movie, but I've got the original disk. I don't know if the new stuff they filmed is worth buying it again. And I fear this trend will do nothing but continue for his other 3 films in the "askewniverse".
